Smoking gun hit and run
Hi
My car was damaged (white paint scuffs and cracked mirror case) possibly by a white car driven by a guy who was drunk and arrested for drunk driving. I have pictures of the damage and a police visit after I phoned linked (criminal damage) my damage to the drunk. It would now seem without any witness or evidence justice will not be served. The white cars bumper was popped on the side I believe hit my door and by the reaction of the owner it was fresh. Ive asked the police if paint samples can be taken but Im losing hope of justice being served. Is there any point in pursuing this legally, insurance or some other direction.

Pass the details onto your insurance and let them sort it. Sounds like minor damage you can cheaply sort yourself
for less than your excess and increased premiums.
You say possibly by a white car, So you have no proof this driver did it or even if it was his vehicle involved.
Police taking paint samples, Been watching too many CSI shows? It appears us the tax paying public have little
hope in that department.
Spend thousands of £ sending the paint off to a lab for them to say yes it came off a car from that manufacturer.
When the repair bill could be £100. And still leaves you with no proof he actually did it.

police wont take paint samples for a simple collision be it by a drunk driver or not..
it costs thousands to analyse in man hours and equipment costs.. ( i did forensic science at uni)
pass it on to insurance to deal with..Sealed pot challenger # 10

The police won't take paint samples, but if you have the details of the fault vehicle, then you can pursue him, and obtain a report of your own to prove the consistency of damage between the two vehicles, which would include comparing the other vehicle and the paint transferred on to yours. It's fairly common where someone denies being involved in an accident. But it would be up to you to pursue the other driver, and not the police.0

It's either criminal damage or accident damage. If you have a crime number for the damage then you've little hope of claiming of the other drivers insurance.0
