Should I buy 12month extended warranty for 4 year old car?
Just purchased a 4 year old Peugeot 207 with 40,000 miles from evans halshaw. They say it comes with free 30 day warranty but can extend it to 12 months for £365. Is it worth taking out the extended warranty?

Parking Issues Obstructing Driveway.
Hi, I have come home to find that the woman directly across the road (who actually lives on a different street to me, she is on a junction) has decided since i moved into the house (June 2011) that she will park opposite my house and obstructing my way in & out of driveway. I caught her going into her house, so i…

How on earth do you choose a new (used) car?!
Hey all I need to replace my current car (51 plate Fiat Punto) as the electric steering pump has gone, and it's not worth paying the £600 it'll cost to fix. This is the only car I've ever had since passing my test in 2004, and I've really liked it. I have absolutely no clue how to decide on what car to get next! I have a…

Cycle to work scheme - final payment
Hi, I got my company to sign up to the ride to work scheme which they'd not run before so it's all a bit new to us. Apparently once you've made all the monthly payments you have to make a final payment to actually 'buy' the bike which should be a 'fair value' of the bike in it's condition. To anyone that has done this…

Are First Central a reputable company
I took out car insurance with First Central (despite my reservations of never having heard of them) over the phone about a week ago as they were by far the cheapest quote from a comparison website. My suspicions are now aroused as I have had an email from their fraud detection dept saying I hadn't disclosed a fault…

buying a car on credit
I don't normally 'do' credit but I'm about to buy a second-hand car and don't want to wait. What's the cheapest way to do it? I thought maybe one of those 0%/ 12 month APR cards but do all dealers take credit cards and what are their charges like? Am I right in assuming this is likely to me cheaper than any finance loan…

Red traffic light prosecution
I have just received a notice of intended prosecution for contravening a red traffic light. I am requesting the photograph, because when I had stopped the vehicle, I had not fully crossed the white line (and not with all my four wheels) and certainly did not endanger anyone by crossing the junction. So, my question is…

RAC Insurance
[FONT="]I went online today and found a very competitive quote for £198.16 from RAC Insurance. I also had the piece of mind of dealing with a very reputable company( I thought!) which made the offer even more appealing. Unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience. After accepting the offer and making payment from my…

Another "who to blame" thread
Yesterday, on the commute home, I am in the middle of a convoy of traffic on a single-carriageway A-road behind a slow driver doing approximately 28mph in a 60. We arrive at a roundabout, where the single lane branches into two, and continues in two lanes for around half a mile at which point it reverts to a single lane.…

advice on dealing with garage
I took my car into my dealer after noises from the clutch, they wanted to take the gear box apart to diagnose. Came back saying replacement for clutch would be £480. I was going to take it elsewhere as I know someone who could do it cheaper but they want £200 for taking the gear box out and £380 to refit it without making…

Exchanging Foreign Licence for UK Licence
Can anyone help? My partner had a full Guernsey licence. It expired about 4 years ago. From what i can gather he should be able to exchange it for a full UK licence as long as it hasn't been expired for more than 10 years. We didn't know this information until recently so he applied for a UK provisional and uses that to…

Motorbike parking on the outskirts of London
I need to be in Central London (Covent Garden) area for a few hours on Friday. I'll be riding down from the north on my motorbike. Looking at maps etc I was thinking that maybe leaving the bike at Cockfosters and getting the tube into Central London might be a good option. I notice they have an NCP car park there. Does…
