What does the 'remote in' socket do?
My Sony MEX BT 3900U has a blue socket described as `remote in` in the installation instructions. There is a note to say simply a separate adaptor may be required. Anyone know what this is for please?

Toyota garage told my mum to park in neutral
The Toyota garage told my mum to park her Yaris (semi-automatic/'multi mode manual' (I think it is called that in the instruction manual) in neutral, as it does not have a 'Park' gear. I think this sounds like nonsense, and the car's instruction manual agrees with me - it says to park the car as you would a manual car, in…

No Driving Licence
I had to send my licence back to the DVLA in May, but as yet haven't had a new one sent. I have asked them twice now, when I will get it back and can I keep driving, to which they had said 'not sure' and 'yes' to those questions. Can I still drive without a physical licence? What if the police stop me and ask for my…

Paying Car Insurance but was not covered
Hi GUys, I am new to this forum. I was with Halifax car insurance and had my astra van insured on it. When I went to get the policy renewed, they said that I would not be insured on it as they do not cover Astra vans. Then then went onto say that I was never covered during my previous 2 years. How would I go about getting…

I have never driven a sports car :o . Never really hankered after one, but feel it is something I should do once in my life :D . I go to Spain a lot and my local car hire co has a 1984 Spider available for €150 a week. Very tempted (waiting to hear what colour ;) ). What are they like to drive? Am a little concerned about…

Van Hire Recommendations?
Hi, I have recently been offered a job in Galway, Ireland, and after getting some quotes from moving companies I am wondering if it would be cheaper to hire a van and drive my stuff over myself? So can anyone recommend a good hire company that would allow me to do this? Or is it not even worth going down this route because…

Worth it to replace clutch?
I have a slightly scuffed 3 door 2004 Peugeot 206 hatch that has run pretty well till now. Getting some juddering when I start up in first and think the clutch might be on it's way out. What small car - 5k to spend
I need to replace my ageing (52 reg) car, it's MOT & service are due in the next few weeks and the exhaust is noisy so I'm probably looking at at least £400 to get it through it's MOT including the service - that's without problems that are currently unknown to me that might mean an MOT failure. The car is probably worth…

MOT Emissions Failure
Hi, Our 2003 Honda Civic 1590cc failed the Fast Idle Lambda Tests (1.039 and 1.035). I took the car away, despite thus losing the opportunity of a free retest there and having a £50 diagnosis offered, as I felt uneasy by what I was being presented with. All CO and HC readings on the printout were "0". Now over the years I…

Can Windscreen crack be repaired?
The crack is in the external layer, about 5 inches long but only around the corner where the tax disc goes; not in the area swept by the wipers and hence not an MoT issue. Do the free 'chip repairs' offered under car insurance policies repair cracks or will they just turn up and say 'new screen mate' with the associated…

Need advice for used family car £8k
Hi all We currently drive a 2003 corsa and with one toddler and another baby planned we're looking into family cars to future proof ourselves. Alas I'm a bloke that's never taken any interest in cars so i really don't know that's decent. Size wise i suspect something like the Honda Jazz would probably be decent for us…

Car hire as a courtesy car rip off
Hi, I took my car in for a service and cambelt change on a friday. The agreed price was £660 and a courtesy car. When I dropped my car off, the dealer explained that they use Enterprise to supply the courtesy car as it works out cheaper for them. Enterprise picked me up from the dealer and took me to their unit where i…

Used car advice
Hi all, My 206 is on its way out and is becoming expensive to maintain. I need a replacement but don't have much to play with - £1k, maybe more for something special. I've been looking at a popular online auction site and the ones that appeal in terms of cost and appearance are VW Golf and Polo and Renault Clio. I don't…
