DVLA have 'lost' car tax refund application
My daughter recently sold her car and downloaded the appropriate forms and attached her car tax disc. No refund has been received so she contacted DVLA but they have no record of it. There must be a record of the new owner taxing the vehicle. Any idea what course of action she can take?

Opinions on 1999 VW Golf Automatic please
I'd appreciate opinions on the following car I'm thinking of getting for the Mrs. It's for sale at a used car dealer which I'm told has a good reputation. It's a 1999 (V Reg) VW Golf 1.6 Automatic with 69,000 miles, for sale at £1,295. Looking at comparable models on eBay's completed listings, this seems like a very good…

Petrol Pump Overcharging

This is without dispensing any fuel. This happened a few months back, and since then I have gone to many different…

Super Off Peak Day Travelcard
I've used one of these before for a cheap day return on Virgin trains between Manchester-London on Saturdays. However, although I know Virgin don't sell them via their website, I can't recall where I did purchase it from. Anyone know of a train site that does sell them?

Help - should I report
I've seen two youngish lads over the last week coming home from school on the pavement on a scooter - not the noisy hairdyer things but a really quiet one, with no number plate/L plate and no crash hats. Now I'n not a busy body, and to be fair to the driver, he seems quite sensible and probably a safer driver than some of…

Breakdown cover is just that-not accident cover
Until I had a motorway RTA recently ( other driver's fault ) I didn't realise that my RAC relay cover did not include this ( it is "breakdown" not "accident" ). I phoned them up, blithely assuming that my car would be recovered. Apparently other companies, including the AA, don't do this either. I assumed my cover was for…

Alternator workshop!
I have a Golf GT Tdi which has just notified me of this little issue. However, I am aware that dodgy electrics are a "feature" of the older models (03 plate) and to be fair mine have had a mind of their own since I bought the car. :D I am guessing that this warning is not a good thing and has a significant amount of cash…
