DVLA have 'lost' car tax refund application

My daughter recently sold her car and downloaded the appropriate forms and attached her car tax disc.
No refund has been received so she contacted DVLA but they have no record of it.
There must be a record of the new owner taxing the vehicle.
Any idea what course of action she can take?

Did she get a certificate of posting or send it recorded delivery?0
-
no, just normal post, I posted it at the same time as my notification of selling my car and that arrived ok0

How recently is recently?
The DVLA can only process anything that they receive, so it might not have been delivered yet, lost in the post or it's not been processed.0 -
It was about 4 weeks ago. Ive sent them for work in the past and been processed and back within 2 weeks, so its a bit worrying0

they can take up to 6 weeks and if it's been lost, you can still get a refund

mines been 4 wks aswell. i got my confirmation letter to say i didnt own my old car 2 wks ago. its wrong that they get 6wks to give you your money back but you only get a few days to pay before they fine you.0

It takes up to 6 weeks as has been mentioned before. Once the 6weeks has passed ring again if it's not been received, and they will send you out a form to complete to process the refund without the disc instead, but you have to wait the full 6 weeks before they will send this.
It won't show on DVLA's systems until processed unless there is an error with it, so they won't actually know whether it's been received or not unless you send by recorded etc.

Did she download the form or fill it in online? If she filled it in online then simply printed out the form there will be a reference number and they will have a record of it.
Did she make a note of the number?

got mine today, 70 quid might not seem a lot to them but when ive already payed them another 210 pound to tax another car its a lot for me.0
