How do i know if my car is leaking petrol?
Hello! Tuesday night I stayed in a hotel and when I came back to the multi story in the morning there was a biiiig puddle under my car. Dark coloured. Not wet. I decided that as it was a public car park it was probably there before. Yesterday I get home and there is a puddle where I usually park (but again, public street…

Southsea Parking
I'm going to the Isle of Wight this weekend to see my family and was wondering if anyone local or experienced could tell me what the parking situation is like around the hovercraft terminal. Would it be possible to park somewhere close(ish) on the street from Friday evening to midday Monday? Or are there any other…

Addison Lee cheap E Class Now Available
With reference to a previous thread regarding a cheap way into a seriously cheap E220 CDi Auto my recommendation was Addison Lee, specifically their own car sales place that disposes of these cars, no attempt to hide the fact they have been used for chauffeur work since new. They are all high mileage, anywhere from 112k to…

Hire companies using ditchfinders......
Didn't expect a van from one of the big hire companies to have Hinglong's DingDong tyres on the front - not even the same on both sides (two different ditchfinders)

Student rail travel.
It's so expensive and I was wondering what the cheapest way to get from Castle Cary to Brighton would be for Friday eve/this weekend and return Monday. its to late to book in advance I think, but could I buy separate tickets for each journey part? I haven't got a student rail-card but will get one at the station, but it…

Weird Electrics
I think this is probably the right place to ask. I recently noticed that when I have my wipers and lights on at the same time, after I cut the ignition, the wipers will carry on wiping until I turn the lights off. This isn't a big issue, but I'm sure it's not meant to happen. Also, I don't know if this is connected, but I…

Why the daily fuel price changes?
Today 3 local garages (within a mile of each other) changed their prices. One of them THREE times in one day. At 0730 Tescos had gone up 4p a litre, Asda up 1p. A Shell garage was down 2p at 0730. By 1230 it had gone up 1p. But by 1630 it had gone up another 2p! I fully understand (but don't like it) that oil prices are…

I had an MOT done on an 07 plate Peugeot 206 yesterday, which passed but had the following advisory note: Nearside steering system has slight free play detected at steering wheel I]2.2.A.1b[/I Can someone with much more knowledge of cars tell me exactly what this means in terms of being fixed? For example, what…

Hyundai Tucson
Dear wonderful MSE'ers, I am replacing my aged old Merc and have come across the Hyundai as an option. I have a Landrover 110 which I use in Scotland for shooting and fishing and in snow and I like the driving position. The Freelander appeals too but my local garage is selling a 2008 Tucson at £11,500 and would give me…

Car not as advertised
Hi all, I bought what I thought was a Seat Leon 1.9tdi SE 130 last month. A few days ago I discovered it may be the 110 model. I fished around to find the 130 has 6 gears, mine has 5. I called 2 seat dealers and based on my reg plate and on the engine code and they say its a 110 too. I called the dealer that sold it to me…

10 plate but not a 10 plate...?
Ok, so how does this work then... Was chatting to a girl the other day who had a 2004 car... She'd put a private number on it which made it look like a 10 plate. It was H010 ABC (the ABC bit is made up by me to protect her identity but that was the layout)

Dodgy Car Dealer! (Need advice)
Last week I went to look at a car, I thought it seemed nice and told the guy at the garage I might head back over in the next few days to test drive it. Two days later the guy rang saying someone else was interested in the car, but if I paid him a £200 deposit over the phone, he would hold it for me until I came over to…

Voluntary Termination of PCP - obligations?
All, We've begun the process to voluntarily terminate our PCP deal early - the car was depreciating at the rate we were paying for it, and was already in -ve equity, so it made sense to ditch it and get something cheaper to run. The car has always been well cared for and is in good condition etc (easily passes all the…
