Hyundai Tucson

Dear wonderful MSE'ers,

I am replacing my aged old Merc and have come across the Hyundai as an option. I have a Landrover 110 which I use in Scotland for shooting and fishing and in snow and I like the driving position. The Freelander appeals too but my local garage is selling a 2008 Tucson at £11,500 and would give me £1000 for my old E class. I have two sons and five dogs. The sons will be driving soon so shouldn't be a consideration. And thankfully no husband!

Does anybody have experience of the Hyundai or have any thoughts on this?

Anna

A friend of mine very much Shooting and Fishing type has one and reckons it is very good. Personally I don't know much about them but if it wasn't for our need for heavyweight towing it would certainly be on my short list.

Try the What Car reader reviews and perhaps the honestjohn website for further info.

Very good cars, but I am biased I have a Santa Fa, head over to http://www.hyundaiownersclub.co.uk/index.php and ask on there, seems to be no common problems like a lot of cars, very well built (a lot better than freelanders)

Price seems high "admin" on the site, is a Hyundai technician, and can source cars from dealers at very good prices.

Yes, well built cars and the parts are reasonable as the platform is shared with the Elantra/Coupe/Kia Cerato/Sportage.

The price you quote is about 30-40% too high though.

Thank you all for this useful advice. I need to do some research on price. The Santa Fe also looks interesting so may take myself to the main dealership at the weekend to see what they are like.
