Addison Lee cheap E Class Now Available

With reference to a previous thread regarding a cheap way into a seriously cheap E220 CDi Auto my recommendation was Addison Lee, specifically their own car sales place that disposes of these cars, no attempt to hide the fact they have been used for chauffeur work since new.

They are all high mileage, anywhere from 112k to 130k, but are serviced well above the normal Merc schedule, they have their own workshop, that is Merc, VW and Ford approved, and they service them ahead of time as they consider private hire use in London to be "harsh conditions", and quite right to.

Anyhoo, they are from £10200 to £10900.

All the same spec, 08 plate E220CDi Auto Executive saloons, with leather, if I had the money and needed a cheap exec then I would be there in a flash, but as they have several hundred of these in the fleet there will be more along in a month or so.

I know one chap said he was going to out the webpage in his favourites but thought i would be helpful and post up a thread.

How long do you think it will be before I am accused of working for them?

Don't know how I find the time though, what with my F/T work for the NHS, F/T at Cargiant and now F/T at Addison Lee carsales.

Enjoy.:D

These cars are MSE fodder for those that don't mind a few miles on a three year old car.

The new shape E Class will be getting sold in about a year, not sure how much they will be, but a private plate and people would think you have just spent £35k.

As it stands even these old shape ones still look like a good £18k worth, they have very strict standards when it come to the fleet condition. Hence why I am happy to point people in the direction of some bargains.

Most of these vehicles end up being used by owner drivers at other companies.

What would a similar E class be worth if it'd spent 3 years doing the same mileage in less "harsh" conditions? :)
  • At Last... been checking daily to catch a glimpse of these!!

Are all their Motors Black?..... Dont want a Black one:(

Buying purely on condition you would be looking at around £15k at CarGiant for one with about 50k on the clock.

Buying from Merc UK, maybe £17k or £18k i would have thought.

Don't forget that they have the added instrinsic value of being taken back to work ful time as soon as you buy them, obviously only if you are a Private Hire Driver in London.

Remember that harsh conditions are such things as stop start traffic, urban use etc.

Not driving in Sub Saharan Africa.

I take it you would have moaned if I said they qewre serviced as per Mercedes normal schedule due to the fact they have been used round London.

If you think they are expensive then show me a cheaper one, where the previous owner is not hiding the fact they have been worked. Or more likely clocked it back and traded it into the main dealer stock. And yes this has happened with chauffeur cars and executive cars in London for thre best part of 20 years.

Yes they are all Black, that is the corporate colour, i would have thoght the fact that all the Sharons where Black might have indicated that possibility.

In the case of money saving sometimes the colour needs to be the thing you can compromise with.

I reckon the Black look snicer than the Silver, but i don't fancy keeping it clean.

AddisonLee have a car wash that all driver subscribe to (based near City Road, and they can get their car cleaned inside and out 5 times a week, it may be every day but none of my mates at Addison Lee work 7 days a week.

Indeed... The Sharans being black did highlight the fact of it being a possibility hence the question... Now its not a possibility but a fact.

    Thank you;)

It was a genuine question - I don't think they are expensive and think they look good for the money however I'm curious as to what you can get if you look to ex lease cars at auction from the likes of Lex Autolease which have pounded the motorway all day for the same kind of mileage. This is what they should be compared to, not clean examples from MB with half the mileage.

Sorry about being a bit defensive kilty. A reaction to my previous attempts to point forum members in the direction of a bargain , the thing to remember is that these cars are used for executive work not "minicabbing outside pubs" ithey do a lot of airprt runs and only the best dricers get allowed near the exec work. I would have one tommorrow and they are on my radar.if and when i have to retire early.

I wouldn't recommend them if i wasn't prepared to buy one myself.

The Sharons are used mostly on account work, it is a mainly corporate circuit, so the vehicles are.much less abused than the usual knackered ex minicab. The fact they admit they have been worked should show that they are a decent buy.
