Getting best possible deal
In GENERAL (and I do mean GENERAL) terms, is it better to buy a used car from a main dealer which is NOT their marque and trade in a car that IS their marque? For instance, buying a used Ford from a Kia main dealer and having a decent Kia to part exchange.

The start of the campaign for 50 MPH limits
Has anyone seen in the news today that a road safety group has announced that the majority of the UK's A roads are unsafe? Whats the next thing going to be. Do you think it will be a campaign to have more of our road tax money spent on maintaining and repairing the roads? Or a campaign to reduce the limit to 50 MPH. How…

GEM Motoring Assist - anyone got any experience of them?
Hi, I have found GEM Motoring Assist on the Moneysupermarket website to be the best for us [joint and 2 cars] however, I have always gone with the RAC [who have always been great] so feel a bit worried about changing - but they are so much cheaper! If anyone has any experience of this policy I would be very grateful to…

Kids advice please?
Hi, We have a 15 year old Micra which is being scrapped and replaced with a new Mini. We had our 3 girls (18,19,19 and provisional licences) on the Micra insurance with my wife and I for about £600. Anyway, the driving lessons have fallen a bit by the wayside (it's really hard with 3!) but I was wondering if I should…

How much saving does a satnav produce?
Wondering if anybody has heard about the saving a satnav might produce over a year, or over a set period of time, considering: - it saves time in preparing a journey (while still at home), - it is meant to prevent mistakes while on the road, therefore saving time on the road, - it saves petrol too, as it entails a smoother…

£2800 car bought £1000 of repairs in 6 weeks
All, I bought from a dealer who claimed to have a warranty. The car was using excessive oil so my local garage said it was head gasket at £480. It was also drinking water so hoped that would stop that. Then I discovered it was still leaking water that was due to a cracked thermostat, costing £80 to repair. The last amount…
