Car Tax

I have recently purchased a car without MOT and Car Tax.
I have since put it through an MOT (it passed yippee!), sorted out insurance and purchased my Tax disc on-line.
I am currently waiting for my tax disc to arrive in the post (could take up to 5 working days) and would like to know if it's legal to drive my car whilst I'm waiting for my tax disc to arrive!
Legally I have valid tax, but does it need to be displayed before i can drive the car?
