I would appreciate some advice advice on the best (cheapest) return
travel from Shoreham-By-Sea to Cambridge for:
2 adults over 60.
Out: Shoreham to Cambridge Central Sunday 13th Dec.
Rtn: Cambridge Central to Shoreham Tuesday 15th Dec.
The best option I have found is :
Shoreham to london 2x £3.00 singles. = £6.00
London to Cambridge 2 x 29.00 Return = £58.00
London to Shoreham Day saver for 2 = £20.00
Total cost: =£84.00
I realise it is too early to book for Dec. but I will book a hotel now if its likely the travel costs will be within budget.
I do hope someone can help. Ideally hoping to spend £50.00ish. max.
Thanks.
Vegie

Well if you are lucky you might get the London Shoreham return leg for the same price as you got it outward.
The only way of getting London - Cambridge cheaper would be to use the coach.0 -
If you can't get the £3 tickets for the return leg, a DaySave ticket can be used from Milton Keynes to Shoreham-By-Sea.
The Stagecoach X5 bus goes every 30mins thoughout the best part of the day. It takes 1hour 45 mins. from Cambridge to Milton Keynes. Timetable (and other info) here.
'2 adults over 60'.
Do you have free bus passes? They can be used on the X5 bus... see here.
If so, consider via Milton Keynes both ways. A Southern DaySave ticket each is all you need each way. So total cost = £20 each for the return trip.
Also note that you have not costed getting across central London.
My proposal avoids central London... just a simple change of train at Clapham Junction.0 -

Not hopeful for London to Shoreham for £3.00. Will go with KeithP suggestion to Milton Keynes, then bus."you're never fully dressed without a smile!!"0 -
