Splitter/connector identification
I've torn up the bedroom floor and there's one cable run I can't identify. It looks like some sort of splitter block, maybe an old aerial run or the like. I don't recognise the brand/symbol. The cables disappear into the cavity on two walls, so I can't trace it further.

I can deal with…

Wired smart alarm system
Hi, I'm looking to replace our alarm system. It's old, we don't know the engineer code, PIRs and the bell boxes are broken. It's a wired system so was hoping that we could avoid the battery changing of a wireless system and replace the components using existing wiring. I'd like it to be controllable remotely from my phone…

Swap lounge and kitchen??
Hi! Im buying a house that’s so great in many ways but the one thing preventing it being perfect is, I’d rather the garden be off the kitchen, not the lounge. To explain, you go in the front door, nice hall way with loo under the stairs, turn left to lounge which has patio doors to garden or from hallway turn right to the…

Buy new or repair vacuum
We’ve got a 6 year old Dyson which still works but the rotating brush has stopped rotating. Tried the suggested fixes online but nothing has worked. Local repair shop has said we can take it in for a quote but we’re wondering whether it’s worth the hassle of taking it there and picking it up again if it turns out to be an…

Front gate fallen off
The small garden gate out the front has fallen off, and I've had to remove it completely. Its not very big, but is extremely heavy - thick iron - probably from the early 1900s era Also probably been painted a million times and in need of restore. Paint missing in places and some rust. What would be the best thing to do? Is…

Shed roof covering
My 10' x 6' shed now has its roof on and is almost ready for the roof felt, £20 from B+Q.It says fixed using nails and felt adhesive, I saw a video where the nails go into the roof itself, does that not cause a leak?I thought, just nails on the edge and glue on the roof?

Wiring question
Dear All, There's a shed in the garden of the house we moved into, and electricity runs into that shed. I've opened the box where the cable comes from (outside the house) and it seems as if the cable to the shed is fed by two cables. I was just wondering whether this is a problem, that the shed is potentially fed by…

Property Boundary Issue
Hi there, We have been living in our detached property for more than 5 years. Our neighbour claims that the previous owner has encroached on his (half a meter) property when replacing the fence posts. It is a bit bizarre as this has never been mentioned in the past 5+ years. Looking at the Land Registry docs do not provide…

No hot water from cylinder, please help :(
Bit of a long story, so bear with me. A couple of months ago or so, our system boiler blew. We had someone out and sadly, it was condemned. With the Coronavirus situation coming in (and getting furloughed), my wife being made redundant at the start of the year and the weather getting better, we decided to hold off getting…

If any of you experience your washing machine door being stuck, an easy release option is to get a length of lawn trimmer cable feed it into the door from the 12 oclock posistion and around clockwise.
