Buy new or repair vacuum

We’ve got a 6 year old Dyson which still works but the rotating brush has stopped rotating. Tried the suggested fixes online but nothing has worked. Local repair shop has said we can take it in for a quote but we’re wondering whether it’s worth the hassle of taking it there and picking it up again if it turns out to be an expensive quote.
Any idea how expensive vacuum repairs are? Should we bite the bullet and instead buy a new vacuum?

Dysons are not cheap - Well worth getting a quote even if you decide not to get it repaired. It could just be a blocked air passage, so a quick & easy fix.New vacuum cleaners don't (by all accounts) have the suction of the older models, so you might want to bear that in mind when choosing between repair or replace. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
No harm in getting a quote but when you get the chance try visiting shops that stock them and feel the size and weight. Look at reviews, they are quite revealing compared to the advertising. Then go for the one you want that's cheapest.I had a Hoover Junior for 40yrs. Brilliant, lighter than modern ones, fitted in spaces the new ones don't. Only gave up when I couldn't get a part. The new vaccums were so heavy and more difficult to use but had to bite the bullet in the end. The only one that was good was several hundred pounds compared to 70!
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Have a look at repairing it yourself, they're pretty easy to take apart. Does the motor run?0

Is the suction ok/operating normally? Our Dyson animal needed a new motor which was easy enough to fit but a gap in a seal took me a while to spot, when wondering why the suction wasn’t quite there/the rotating brush head wasn’t going as quick as it did. If it’s just the brush head Dyson sent us a new one for free when ours jammed- but that was perhaps 3 years into ownership. Those are the only issues we’ve had. I’d definitely go down the repair route but can you not just order the parts yourself or disassemble and try and repair? They are incredibly simple machines. Ours is over 10 years old now and the original motor lasted us 9. New motor literally made it good as new.0

Are you talking about Dyson then just visit their official site repair page and book a repair service. It is very easy and hopefully, they know exactly what to do with your machine. You can call them and ask either they can give a repair service for your vacuum or not. Yes, they will take repair service charges but I think it is fair. A fixed price repair service is also available for the machines which are out of guarantee now.
Good Luck!0
