Wall tye replacement & house value
Hi, 14 months ago I had some wall tyes replaced on my 1955 built dorma bungalow. The mortar they used for repair where they replaced wall tyes is a different colour to the mortar used when the house was built. They used a dull grey colour where as the mortar used to build the house is a light brown. Will the wall tye work…

Repairing crack in ceiling
When in the loft recently and after momentarily losing concentration, my foot (and body weight) landed on one of the gyprock ceiling boards which promptly cracked. As a result, the ceiling of the room below now has a crack in it measuring approximately 50 cm. Is this something I could realistically repair myself (i.e. with…

Is the Dyson V6 Trigger the same as the Dyson V6?
Hi My Dyson V6 Animal has packed up and needs replacing. I have made the mistake of buying a Vax which is basically rubbish! I have now seen Dyson do a Dyson V6 Trigger handheld which appears to be the same as the V6 animal floor stick but does not come with the floor stick or docking station for charging. Does anyone know…

Not sure about this?
Recently widowed and young, I have nobody to ask... buying a house outright, had it surveyed, and was told there is asbestos: 1. In the front wall textured covering of the former garage (now a room in the house) 2. Textured ceiling in the airing cupboard I don't want to be ripped off, so who do I ask to sort this, does it…

Shower cutoff/timer
Anyone ever found something? Ideally something that cuts water off after a set time? Got teenage son who constantly uses all the hot water. We've tried to tell him 15 mins max but a day or two later its back to 45 mins. One option is to take lock off the door but I'm wondering if shower timer would be better?

Advice on dealing with uneven concrete bathroom floor
Hi, A few weeks ago I decided to replace the vinyl floor tiles in my downstairs bathroom. They were pretty well stuck and on removing them, the tiles they were fixed to (the original 1950s tiles) started to come loose, so I decided to remove those too. Around two thirds of the way across the bathroom, the concrete floor…

My end of terrace wall is damp from the ground floor to the ceiling, this is down to my neighbour having a retaining garden wall cm from my wall. This wall is also very old, but I expect it came after…
