No always on radiator on unvented system
Had a new boiler and some new rads installed just over a month ago. This was setup as an unvented system. I also had a Honeywell Evohome installed for zoned heating. I don’t appear to have a radiator with no trv that is always on. Is this unusual?

Lukewarm water in bath and showers
I need some help please. The hot water for the showers and bath is run off a separate pump from the main tank. I think because they are mixer taps. We get plenty of hot water from the tank in all the other taps. The pump for the showers has a cold and hot feed. The outlet pipes are cold and hot respectively. So what I…

Worcester 24i rsf, seized fan, hole, options?
I made the mistake of stopping this when the fan was running roughly and it's now seized. Trying to remove the fan unit to apply some WD40 and silicone lubricant I found that the upper left screw is stuck, haven't yet got it out. Adding better lighting, it's worse: there's a roughly 1cm x 2cm diagonal corroded hole on the…

Vibration noise from under house
HI, I found a thread on this which is closed & it was never resolved. Both myself & 7 neighbours have been tormented by an underground vibration coming from under the house for the past 2.5 years. Please note - This is NOT The Hum. This sounds like a generator / pump as it goes on & off at different times & when I first…

Looking for a decent carpet cleaner
Having seen the price of Rug Doctor hire, I was thinking of biting the bullet and getting my own machine - except the actual Rug Doctor one I looked at is £300! Can anyone recommend a (somewhat cheaper) machine? I live in a muddy rural location with a border collie coming and going so I need a serious machine and not…

L Shape Shower Rail advice needed
Hi, Does anyone know where I can buy a L shape shower rail that I can extend/decrease the depth to 600mm and the Length to 1400mm as the bath is 1400x600. I like shower curtain to protect the bathroom floor from getting wet so a longer dimensions shower rail will cause a problem where it will further away from the bath you…

Has anyone had any experience of this and is it any good? I mean... 1) Is the boiler they replace it with any good? 2) Are there a variety of boilers and…

Electric intergrated oven
Hi, Looking to get a new intergrated oven because ours is on the way out and needs replacing. The oven was already there when we bought our house so we are not sure where it was bought from. Looking at the new ones, I can see that the size of the ovens are bigger than the one we have got, because ours is a 56lt and seen…

Help! New roof leaking worse than old one!
We have just paid to have the flat roof on our porch replaced as it had several leaks which had been happening for some years. The builders assured us they guaranteed it wouldn't leak. They replaced the damaged lead and rotten wood underneath, this time with one piece of plastic type stuff, no joins to leak. They also put…

Rabbits Nibbled at Cube Freezer Cable
Hiya all. Quite a long while ago (several months), I owned a pair of rabbits that seemed to enjoy nibbling on the cable of the cube freezer I have in one of my rooms. I don't have the rabbits any more, but I'm just a bit concerned that the damage could cause like a fire or explosion or something... (I don't know! :) ). I…

Badgers causing havoc with our boundary
We've got a very long fence in our garden, a toddler, and a border terrier doggy who likes going next door. The problem is we've got badgers who like to dig under said fence and appear to have a set path through our garden. We'd originally put loads of quite heavy rocks along the bottom of the fence but this poses no…

Engineer didn't fix boiler - do I pay?
Hi everyone, I'd appreciate some thoughts on how to resolve an issue with my boiler. I bought a house in the autumn and when I moved in the boiler wasn't working (I had asked for a gas safe check but the vendor insisted on getting her own gas safe engineer to carry it out so whilst I have the gas safe certificate I suspect…

No water coming from kitchen hot tap... :(
Hello Everyone! About a week ago, our plumbers began work on a total refit of the bathroom. They discovered that both the internal water stop valves (kitchen and loft) were damaged. We tried to locate the outside valve but could not find one. So we called in the water company to show us where it was... Turns out it is in…
