Rabbits Nibbled at Cube Freezer Cable

Hiya all.
Quite a long while ago (several months), I owned a pair of rabbits that seemed to enjoy nibbling on the cable of the cube freezer I have in one of my rooms. I don't have the rabbits any more, but I'm just a bit concerned that the damage could cause like a fire or explosion or something... (I don't know!
). I think it was because of the whole Grenfell Tower thing, supposedly caused by an exploding fridge, that got me worried.
But like I said, I've still been using the freezer for all these months & there doesn't seem to be an issue, but I would rather be safe than sorry... I was looking into how much a local electrician would charge to replace the cable, & the prices quoted are more than what I originally even bought the freezer for (it was second-hand).
So I thought I'd see if anyone with electrical appliance knowledge would know whether, for example, I could simply wrap the cable with electrical tape, & it would be completely safe to use? Or is there something else that I can do?
Do let me know!
Thanks,

Howdy!
Hopefully the rabbits weren’t electrocuted
I would say that if you could afford it, buy a new one . Sales as well.
Too much worrying and expense of electricians other wise .
Merry xmas0 -
Cut out the chewed bit then add another length using connecting block, then wrap block in tape. ( After unplugging obviously.)0

Are you able to post a picture of the damage cable?
It could be a little nibble which dent even expose the inner cores, or it could be to the other extreme where the inner conductors are exposed!
Is for replacement, it really depends upon the make/model of the appliance. Whilst most are generally 'non user serviceable', some are able to replace by cracking the unit open, or some are impossible and require a destructive force to get at its innards!0 -

don't listen to this rubbish, replace the entire cable.
Getting to the inside of the freezer where the cables are connected may not be that easy and provided that the cable is repaired where the damage is and a suitably rated connector or terminal block is used, (preferably a waterproof one if it's going to be in an area that could get wet) this will be just as safe and probably far easier than replacing the entire cable.
Something such as this:0 -
Replacing the cable world odiously be best, but a connector is just fine.0
