Not sure about this?

Recently widowed and young, I have nobody to ask...

buying a house outright, had it surveyed, and was told there is asbestos:

1. In the front wall textured covering of the former garage (now a room in the house)
2. Textured ceiling in the airing cupboard

I don't want to be ripped off, so who do I ask to sort this, does it even need sorting? Can I just paint over it?
Not to sound silly but is it still ok to put nails in for pictures and stuff?

Yes it's common, and yes it's safe. You can skim over it, or just paint it. If you are going to put any fixings up that involve drilling, then wear a mask and clean up thoroughly.

Don't go sanding it and savoring the dust.

I agree with the above comment.

Have it plaster skimmed and use PPE to protect yourself when drilling, which you won't be doing much of anyway. Once covered, and left undisturbed, the coating will be not be an issue.
  • Most surveyors will state that to cover their RRR'es...

Artex in the 1960=70's had some aspestos in but not enough to worry about. As above..... don't worry and don't lick the walls or ceiling. LOL
