I'm just wanting opinions of where electric sockets should be in my newly plastered kitchen. I always buy with a high spin speed but cannot seem to find one that will do 1600rpm on a short programme wash. The way I get around this at the minute is when the wash finishes I do another spin at 1600, but…

Boiler leaking clay balls?
I recently had a combi boiler installed and my tenant was not hapy with the work. She initialy told me there was a problem with insects (silverfish?) getting in through some gaps in the brickwork. I filled these gaps and thought the problem was cured. But then a couple of days ago, she sent me a photo showing some small…

Can I paste the wall when hanging textured paper
A few months ago we tried a paste the wall paper for the first time and it was amazingly easy. However, the walls in our lounge are so bad that we have had to resort to buying Arthouse Textures paper. It says to paste the paper and let it soak for 10 minutes. Two questions: Will it then shrink back? Can I avoid all this…

Liquid wash or powder for sensitivity?
I am finding myself in a predicament when it comes to doing my washing. As we all know, wash powder is cheaper than the liquid/tabs so I thought that I would save money by switching to the wash powder. Seemed like common sense. However, I discovered a problem. My skin is sensitive to the wash powder. This is bog standard…

Excavating an old coal store/side room
Down the side path of the house, there seems to be an old coal store or something similar. It is completely attached to the house but because the whole thing has been pebbledashed, it's hard to know anything more about it. The internal wall that connects seems to just be nothing more than plaster board or similar. Has…

We've just had a final invoice for our new bathrooms and he's asking £700 more than quoted. Key facts: No mention has been made of any additional costs up to now. He's citing the extra units as part of this -he ordered a short unit when we asked for a tall one so he got a second short one to fit below, effectively making…

Condensation on windows...but with low humidity levels
Hi, I know there are numerous threads on internal condensation, particularly as the temperatures plummet, however most seem to point to high humidity levels.
