Position of electric sockets in new kitchen

I'm just wanting opinions of where electric sockets should be in my newly plastered kitchen. I'm having upstands instead of tiling,I thought the electric sockets would be better lower rather than higher on the wall, but the chap I have fitting kitchen thinks higher. I just thought lower then there would be less trailing cables on view

My upstands are 140mm high and the bottoms of the sockets 55mm above that. That seems fine to me.

On a slight tangent, put in more sockets than you think you'll ever need. You'll be glad you did.

Just measured and that's roughly the height he has marked out on walls, he's all for putting plenty sockets in, at last count 6 doubles and a single lol

BS7671 requires that sockets are installed so as not to damage the plug or flex coming out of it. Generally this is accepted as a minimum of 150mm above a worktop. I would say 55mm is definitely too low and may damage a plug or flex.

You've had your kitchen newly plastered, and only now you're deciding where to put the sockets!! Weird!

Who is planning and installing your kitchen?

I don't wish to appear rude but deciding on where to locate electric sockets should have been done at the design and planning stage and certainly before re-plastering. Perhaps I have misunderstood the situation.

We have just had a new kitchen fitted. The kitchen company we used took responsibility for every aspect of the job.

Day one was stripping out the old kitchen and tiles etc.

The electrician came on day 2 to relocate some existing cabling and install extra cabling before the walls were re-plastered and before any kitchen units were fitted. He went through all our electrical requirements with us and he made sure that all necessary cabling was in place so that he didn't have to cut into new plaster or remove new units that had already been fitted in place.

He then came back towards the end of the job to connect up ovens, fridges, dishwasher, under unit lighting etc using the cabling that he had ensured was in place.

There have been a lot of issues with our kitchen, most not discovered until room stripped bare, 140 year old Victorian house with three outside walls, severe damp. Just grateful we didn't put new kitchen in, in the summer when dry, a night of torrential rain highlighted all our troubles and now being sorted.
On three walls we now have insulated boards, is dot and dab the expression. Anyway I've been told putting the electrics in now is not a problem as they haven't far to travel and easy to get too.
I've every faith in our fitter, he put a relatives kitchen in. He's spent nearly three weeks now trying to get in the kitchen in a state to fit the units. Don't want to let him go as other jobs lined up for him but I'll have to join the waiting list. What I like about him is, he treats every job as if he's working on his own home.

Sorry 6 doubles and 1 single? Have you added up how many electrical items you have that may all be on at the same time, plus phones/tablets/laptops charging ?
Also are there more dedicated sockets for fridge/freezer/ microwave/toaster/kettle/coffee machine/extractor fan/TV/washer/drier, so after all them you have still 6 doubles left ?
