Grout falling off

The kitchen has been tiled by previous owners at some point in the last eight years they've lived there. The grout from the tiles near the sink and windows are starting to loosen and fall off.
I plan to remove as much of the loose grout as possible and regrout but my only concern is if there's a cause (other than time, age etc).
Any thoughts?
