Please see post #8 for update: Hi all A bit of a long one, but hope someone can help. It took a while to get to the bottom of which flat was causing the…

Interior corner wallpaper trim?
I've no idea what this is called, or even if such a thing exists, but I've tried various search names (interior corner trim, interior crowning etc etc) but haven't found what I'm looking for. Basically, we've just wallpapered our feature wall in the living room. The fitting in the corners are nice and straight and has no…

Building off foundation edges
We are currently about to start building a single storey extension. As we are looking to build up to or as close as possible to next door i originally thought that we might have to dig foundations on our neighbours side. After speaking with building control apparently I can build off the edge of foundations as long as they…

Gap where two brick walls meet - what to fill with
Hello, We have a single storey brick built lean to extension which we use as a utility room. Where it joins our house externally at a 90 degree angle there is a small gap of a few mm which we'd like to fill to completely weather proof it. What should we use to fill this gap? Thank you in advance for any help :) Abbnafc

Laminate floor - Bevelled edge or smooth
Hi All I've done smooth/square finish before, but some of the bevelled edge designs appeal, for my next project. Anyone with bevelled edge, does it mean dirt gets stuck in the grooves or chip easily Which would be your preference from either? Also, its a two bedroom flat, similar to what I have now, where I've gone…

painting over Zinsser Bin
Have painted my previously wood stained skirting and door frames with 1 coat of Zinsser bin and they appear to have covered well. I bought some Dulux Trade Satin to apply next, on reading the small print on the tin it says solvent based paints prone to yellowing, reccommend water based paint if this is an issue. Will a…

Boiler pump position
Whilst helping my dad balance his rads for winter I noticed BG who installed him a WB 30 CDi last year also installed a new BG branded grundfos on the return but they actually installed it with the head very nearly horizontal (pointing up). This is bad as it can get air locked and jam. It's about 45c from being flat and…

"Click" Fit Kitchen Cabinets
Hi. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of Click-Fit Kitchen Cabinets eg. Cooke and Lewis (B and Q). They're the one that can be built from flat pack but don't require any glue. I have been told (from another seller) that they are stronger than the equivalent Dowel and Glue type but have reservations. TIA Mandy

Q&A: National Home Security Month
What's it about? For many of us, our home is our haven so we want to keep it as safe as possible, especially as we enter the winter months. Lifespan of 16w 2D lamp
Our bathroom light went this morning (at 06:30, typically) and it's not even been in a year yet! Anyone have any lifespan suggestions? If it's a commonly shortlived thing, I might just get my electrician friend to whip it out and put the spare blob-style normal-bulb one in on Sunday...! Otherwise I'll get the guys who…
