However, assembly of the double glazing glass unit was put together at our home, that is the glass sheet on the inside and the sheet on the outside was put in separately (rather than obtaining the double glazing windows factory sealed as a unit with argon gas inside). Indeed we didn't even see any argon cylinders around our home when they installed the windows. Is this common practice for double glazing firms to install windows in this manner, placing in the sheets seperately.
All comments appreciated, thanks.
I'm no expert but this sounds very odd. I can't imaging how anyone could create gas filled window units outside of a specially built, ie factory, facility.
Presumably you obtained some sort of guarantee? Even so, perhaps you should ask them to provide written confirmation that the windows have been constructed to spec and are A rated. Although I bet you won't get that.0 -
This is not something I have heard of, but with Anglian anything is possible!
Whilst it does not help OP because the work has been done...people really need to understand that dealing with Anglian is like dealing with fire. There are risks attached and someone, or something, will get damaged.
There are good, reputable companies fitting replacement windows. Anglian is not one of these.0 -
I've never heard ofit being done that way.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

They can't be sealed units then.0

I've been googling i can't seem to find anything. It does say there are 2 methods to fill the gas, a 1 hole and a 2 hole and the single hole is best. Can you see any point in the window where it may have been filled. It also says eventually the gas may leak and you'd never know it had gone.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Get a local outfit in next time. (you'll probably need to!) Sounds like a botch job from Anglia. Never heard of units being assembled on site. They should be factory sealed.0

More than happy with my Anglian windows and doors installed four years ago, only thing I'll say is that you must negotiate the price down original price was £10,000 but reduced to £3,800 after negotiations. Yes they can be a rip off company but their products and installation are good, at the right price.0

I second that, and it reasuring to know others have such an opinion.
I advise all clients to avoid these companies but Anglian are a particular thorn in the side of the construction industry. Anglian could clean up their act within months should they wish to do so. Unfortunately for consumers the Anglian greed is too great.
Recent years have seen a new strategy from Anglian. Anglian have teamed up with Homebuilding And Renovating magazine so this magazine is now within the Anglian zone of influence. The construction industry are aware of this and now regard anything written within that magazine as suspect.
Anglian also sponsor the Self Build shows throughout the country giving even more exposure to their dodgy name. In return they get a large stands to promote their dodgy wares and entice the unwary with high pressure sales bull - not what one was expecting when booking a ticket to the shows. Unfortunately, Anglian do not limit their pitch to windows - instead it is every "home improvement" one can imagine. Indeed, Anglian claim they are experts on everything.
These shows are run by "Centaur"... who are the company behind the Homebuilding and Renovating magazine!
So my advice to all mse users is to avoid buying Homebuilding and Renovating magazine - it is dubious and associated with spivs, charlatans and cowboys aka Anglian.0 -

I am sorry but I disagree. Technically, the Anglian product is mediocre, and many are blatantly sub standard compared to what can be purchased at wholesalers.
The fitting can be acceptable, but it is never good. Most fitting is sub standard because the fitters are not paid enough money to do a proper job.
The Anglian priority is comission, and not the standard of the product, nor the fitting.0
