Laminate floor - Bevelled edge or smooth

Hi All
I've done smooth/square finish before, but some of the bevelled edge designs appeal, for my next project.
Anyone with bevelled edge, does it mean dirt gets stuck in the grooves or chip easily
Which would be your preference from either?
Also, its a two bedroom flat, similar to what I have now, where I've gone laminate throughout. This time it will be tiles in kitchen and bathroom (both same colour) and wondered about carpet for bedrooms, (again both same colour) . Laminate in hall and living room.
Do you think it would be too many variations, in such a small space.
And which would be your preference from either?
Thanks in advance
VB

Bevelled is my favourite, ive got that in the hall and kitchen, straight in lounge(older laminate) carpt up stairs and top laning, straight laminate in spare room, carpet in two other bedrooms and laminate effect tiles in bathroom. All my laminates are different, but it looks nice.0

Has laminate not had its day?
I thought mdf went out with changing rooms. Personally can't see the attraction of mdf (well hdf) with a plastic wood grain picture on top.0 -

I know what you mean, but I'm not going to put wood down, as I dont like the price and the scratches so many say about when it gets worn
And I'm really not keen on carpet all through.

Bevelled for me, all the way through the ground floor, sitting room, kitchen diner and conservatory,
Hall, stairs and landing and bedrooms carpeted for my sanity.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The laminate in my lounge has bevelled edges and a textured surface. Looks really good and no problems with dirt in the grooves.
I wouldn't worry about having different floor surfaces, unless you actually want a more free flowing look. Either would work.0 -
Bevelled for me too. There's some really good laminates out now, easily look as good as wood with a wider range of colours and less upkeep.0
