Dealing with unreliable electrician
Hello So we arranged for an electrician to come around and what he has done has been good. He said he would next come around on Thursday just gone. He didn't turn up so I phoned him Friday he was very blunt and rude. He said he was on holiday and that he had text me and my dad that fact (which was BS) I couldn't be arsed…

Kitchen worktop - is quartz worth the money
Hi all, I am currently buying a new build house and am making my kitchen choices. Quartz is obviously beautiful compared to laminate. My question is, is there anyone who has shelled out for Quartz and regretted it. Apart from the cost, I obviously cannot see any negatives. I can skimp and scrape to afford it - personally I…

Anyone recommend York stone flag sealant?
Moved the flags out of the garage into the kitchen extension last week. They're nicely old & pretty rough in places but cleaned up before laying. Realise they'll never match the smoothed-with-age flags in the original bit of the kitchen but need to seal the flags (and mortar) before applying a polish. Any recommendations?…

Faulty light switch, replace or repair?
The light switch in my living room has started playing up. If I switch it on, the light just flashes, however if I hold the switch at the midway point (between on and off (where the switch itself is basically vertical)) the light comes on. But once I move the switch to its "on" position the light goes off. So in short, the…

My bathroom has a very large bricked enclosure, in it, a grey electric cable run up the wall. This cable exits the enclosure at the top of the inner wall and enters the bathroom side. PVA and plaster skim
Im due to get a room skimmed by a local plasterer. He commented that as my walls are dry lined plasterboard and that board is not in great shape that the walls would ideally be bonded with PVA first. I said I would do that bit (thinking it would save a bit of cost - and how hard can it be??) However, would cheap stuff do…

Hi all I've got a problem with my single skin garage absorbing water and in turn either leaving a white powder on the inner walls or when it's bad, making everything mouldy.
