So i'm after a slow cooker for when i'm doing double shifts at work. There are 5 of us in the house, can anyone please advise of a one big enough and as cheap as possible please?
Not sure what size to get and which brands to keep away from!
Thanks in advance

I'm a big fan of slow cookers..... My experience.. Get as big a one as you can... Price wise it depends how smart you want it to be but I've found the more clever they try to be = more electronics = more to go wrong...... I've reverted back to the simple Low/High/Warm/Off..... no timers or nought like that... keep it simple..... That said in this category I've found most brands are much of a muchness. if a part brakes (lid or bowl) you can get spares for most (though I found Crock Pot harder to get spares for in the past) So i'd say stick with the traditional brands.. I think 6 ~ 6.5 Litre is as big as I've seen. I see Argos are doing a sale at the minute on small kitchen items....
Breville 6.5 litre Slow Cooker down to £26.95
Cookworks 6.5 litre Slow Cooker £20
At that money they wouldn't even be worth fixing if anything went wrong..
PS keep steel utensils and/or scourers away from the pot. it scratches it0 -
I go along with Warmhands, get the largest you can. I've got the simple and cheap Cookworks one from Argos, had it about 7yrs without any problems and use it every week.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I agree with other peeps.
I have one and it is on at the moment. Great for when you want stew/mince etc.
Go for the biggest you can get because you will find you use it for all sorts.
I have a Cookwork's and it has lasted me about 10 years so far maybe more. So the more expensive doesn't mean you are getting the better model. The one I have got is very simple, low, medium and high heat settings and an off setting.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks for the link, i might just opt for the £20 one. After reading the reviews they both have the same amount of stars and excellent reviews.
