Any bathroom designers or fitters?
I'm looking to update my downstairs loo, hoping to achieve a champagne level finish on a lager budget ... but am stumbling at the first hurdle in finding a slim enough unit for sitting a bowl type basin on and for hiding the plumbing. The perfect size would be: * 85cm wide (but could go narrower) * 30cm deep (could go to…

Clothes have horrible cheesy smell after washing them :(
This only happens on certain items of clothes, namely T-shirts. Unfortunately it's T shirts that I wear when I go out socializing to bars/clubs so these are the ones I want to be most fresh when Im wearing them! I thought it was the detergent (Daz); I thought it was maybe cos of it being biological, but I washed with a new…

Apartment got robbed! Need DIY alarm or whatever system to protect me
My apartment got robbed a week ago. The door was double locked and the windows are slightly opened for ventilation. I was awake until 1 am. I was so tired from work so I put my bag 2 meters away from the windows. The bag has huge money on it. The culprit didn't make it inside my apartment but he/she used a long stick to…

Today, in true MSE style, i have become a plumber ! (Well sort of )
I'm so happy ! My shower has been playing up for some time. Local plumber came round today ( i know him so i won't knock him :) ) and looked at it for me. It's been installed for 12 years so when he said it would be best to replace it, i agreed and set about looking for a replacement online. Whilst searching for a new one,…

Do I need a fireproof/waterproof safe?
I've a baby who's suddenly no longer a baby, up and walking, knocking things over, pressing buttons. Bit of a wake-up call so we're taking stock of everything 'important' (not that anything else seems that important any more!) Life cover, cloud backup for photos, etc. etc. The one thing that still bothers me is that I have…

The property was used for agriculture before…

Glass repair.
i've got a glass cabinet where the back pieces of glass has cracked and could do with being repaired. It's one of these and as you can see, there's a plastic rim around the top which would make it difficult to get another piece cut and attach over the cracked pane - as the top is slightly narrower than the inside. The…

Damaged bathroom cabinet
Hi Im hoping for a bit of advice. Back at the beginning of the year, we would some bathroom furniture from an online retailer for a small en-suite we created in a garage conversion. Hi all, We are about to install a new kitchen, and struggling to land on the appropriate worktop for us. Essentially want something that is seamless (i.e. not laminate) with the potential for undermounted sink & grooves. But the cost of Corian, Silestone etc has been scaring me.
