Thoughts on Getacore?

Hi all,

We are about to install a new kitchen, and struggling to land on the appropriate worktop for us.

Essentially want something that is seamless (i.e. not laminate) with the potential for undermounted sink & grooves.

But the cost of Corian, Silestone etc has been scaring me. Someone recommnded Getacore as a cheaper alternative which we should consider.

I'd welcome any thoughts or experiences anyone has had with this?

Thanks
Steve

Getacore is not suitable for an undermount sink as its a thin resin surface laminated onto a chipboard core. Its also not that cheap. If you want an undermount you really need to go for quartz or granite.

    Cheers.

Wouldn't recommend it. Its not a massive amount cheaper than Corian and its nowhere as good. Its a 6mm polyester veneer on chipboard as compared to 13mm for Corian and the moment you price up undermount sinks, coved upstands and waterfall edges you start to nudge Corian pricing.

If you have to find a Corian type product try Appollo or Mistral with are similarly priced but slightly better.

Ultimately, Corian, HImacs, Staron or Hanex are unbeatable if you wanted a seamless look. They are all pretty much the same thing and the one that works best for you will depend on your kitchen layout.

Beware of me-too fabricators. There are too many fabricators out there that dont know what they are doing and will bodge something for you cheaply only for it to go pear shaped in a couple of years.

    Thanks both, advice appreciated.

On the back of that, and other research, I think i'm minded towards Corian - without the draining grooves to save on some cash.

Welcome any recommendations of suppliers in the east midlands from anyone..
