My kitchen wall is next door's courtyard wall - party?
I have damp coming in through my kitchen which I am sorting out. It's caused through improper render on that wall in addition to some brackets which have been screwed to the exterior some time before I purchased the house. I need to re-render this wall to waterproof it and as far as I'm aware, as this is my external wall,…

Damp patch on ceiling
Recently there was a hole in the seal of the bath in the flat above mine and water was leaking from their flat and finding a path to my ceiling. The only reason I found out was because when I took a shower the steam would condense on the ceiling and form a wet patch where the water was finding it's way onto the top of my…

Wiring an Outside Light - no earth query
Hi, We have just replaced an external/garden light. When doing so we noticed that the existing mains cable to the old light did not have any earth (just live and neutral wires) and are wondering if this is a problem (the light is plastic, not metal and does not have a label saying it must be earthed). We have re-wired…

Our house has areas of exposed brick wall, one ground floor section covered with white-painted render, and considerable areas of exterior hung tiles over the upper storey. We're currently getting quotes on a replacement for a Powermax x155 boiler (which isn't made any longer).
