Fencing, Legal Limit of height?

HI,

I’m looking for some advice, I’m not sure if I have posted in the right section of the forum, If not please feel free to move!

I’m inquiring about putting fencing up around my rented property?
Basic information, We have a small one bedroom back to back. We have a small amount of grass area outside the front of the house.

There is a very large & busy main road right next to us, The council have placed 6ft bushes around a small 3 foot wall.

This is what’s causing the issues I’m having, People mainly teenagers & adults are using my green as a walk way to make their journey shorter for getting out of our road.

We’re having to clear up every morning & during the day because people are throwing their rubbish on our garden, Dog walkers throwing over mess, In which 3 times now its hit our side window.

Just last night I had a group of youths standing in the side way making noise until midnight!

Is there a legal limit on the size of the fencing we can place, Before we need planning permission? I have reported the issues over & over to both the council & letting agent, But no one is getting back to me!

Thanks you in advance!

You're allowed 2 metres high, or 1 metre when it fronts the road. Anything higher requires planning permission.

Rented? Get the landlords to do it. It will be quite costly to erect. As above.

    General size of fences 1829 x 1829mm
You can top it up with a trellis.

As for plants. These are useful but you will need to buy some fast growers. Even they you will have to wait.

    Hi,

Thanks to everyone who replied, Yes the property we are in is rented, But i'm still awaiting for the estate agents to come a make repairs in the house that was reported 13 weeks ago!

Plants & veg would be great, But the council already tried with & its just not working, Plus, Would you like to work out in your garden, When there is risk, You would be covered in the brown stuff?

I think i'm going to write a letter to the estate agents today to find out, If the LL would be willing to cough up!
