Help next doors roofers

Hi,
Hope someone can help me.My neighbours next door have just had a new roof. The property is joining mine & is a 3 story semi. While the roofers were doing the roof alot of chunks of old mortar came down on my side path. This was the mortar from the the old capping tiles where the 2 property meet.Anyways spoke to the roofer & he asked if there was any damage which I couldnt see any however I asked him if he would clear all the gullys & guttering on my side & remove all mortar.A month has passed & we had a torrential downfall & I had niagara falls running down my wall from the guttering above my bathroom window some 40 ft up onto my utitilty room roof below.I got drenched trying to inspect it.I managed to lean right out & up & I could just feel with my finger tips there was alot of mortar stuck in the gutter.
I have asked the neighbour to get the roofer back to come & clear the gutters out. However when the roofer came this morning he walked down the drive with a stern face on.I told him about the problem & he basically said not his problem & how did I know that it was mortar. He said he hadnt messed with my side of the roof.I reminded hin about the conversation about the mortar falling down.He just denied everything & I must admit that I was alittle cross & said that I dont like being called a liar.He just said he had come out of good will but that he wasnt listening to me & it wasnt his problem & walked off refusing to talk to my husband on the phone. We had our roof done 15 years ago by an excellent roofer & have had no trouble with it at all. Also the top hopper (guttering) between the 2 house has been pulled away from the wall which we believe was done by his scaffolders & not him he is denying that as well.Where do I go from here. Please help ASAP.The neighbours are going away for the summer later this week.I cant let the niagara falls happen again I dont know what damage it will be causing.

clear it out yourself or pay someone.
if you find it is indeed the roofers fault, then send him or the neighbour, the bill.
    Get some gorm.

Thanks Ormus my husband did suggest that to my neighbour & he just said while there is an Ar@@ Hol@ in my body I wont be paying anything. So may have to get some legal advise. If the property wasnt 3 & a half storys high my husband would clear it but it is far too high. Now the roofer has refused to do it can we go ahead & get a roofer to do it & take photos & video of it as proof.

    Hiya Andrew,
Thanks for that but no window cleaner will do my 3rd story windows let alone the guttering over 40ft high.Looks like I will have to get another roofer in to survey the problem that is if they will work off a ladder that high.Scaffolding is £1895 so could be very expensive.Would love to downsize soon to a bungalow, then both of us can do the roof ourselves. We are not shy of getting our hands dirty & would sort this problem out ourselves if we could get up there.

A cherry picker could be cheaper than scaffolding I would have thought it would be max £100 - £150.00 a day providing you can get it down the side and or back of the house !

The window cleaner I know does guttering up to huge heights apparently. Instead of ladders they use an extensible pole system so do it all quite quickly from ground level.

How well they do it is another matter I suppose but it is a lot cheaper than scaffolding.
  • Probably too much to hope he is some sort of organisation - or that they may do anything if you complained.
I'm sorry to say I'd guess the agro and stress you are going to have getting them or your neighbour to do anything probably outweigh getting it done yourself.
You might try a chimney sweep. Many also check gutters for example: http://www.chimneyandguttersagogo.co.uk/gutter-cleaning-services I don't know what they charge but can it be so much?
