Solar PV electricty generation
Hello I understand that if you were to have a PV installation, you would get around 43p for each KwH you generated. If you fed the electricity back into the grid you would get a further 3p However, having just checked my most recent electricity bill, I see that I'm paying around 12p per KwH. So does that mean that your…

CW Insulation & vents
I've just had a local, fairly well regarded, company out to quote for CW Insulation. In my front room I have a gas fire. There is a vent in the floor (about 4" x 8") and an underfloor airbrick on the outside wall, the combination of which I assume provides the necessary throughflow of air into the room. I was told that…

Erecting a Fence - Getting the top level.
Hi We're erecting a garden fence and are trying to work out the best/simplest method of getting the fence level at the top. Our garden slops upwards with a difference of about 10 inches at the bottom end of the garden. If we follow the ground level, mounting the fence on a 6 inch gravel board, the fence panels height will…

Latex based tannin blocking primer
Hi, I'm currently in the process of painting an old dressing table. However, after applying 2x coats of primer, areas of it are stained yellow, which I can only assume is due to some tannin in the wood. Can anyone recommend a primer that will prevent tannin coming through before I apply my topcoat? Thanks

Value for money paint?
Am looking to paint a bedroom white/slightly off white with a matt emulsion or eggshell type finish. I am on a very tight budget. Would I be right in thinking that the value paints at B & Q are not worth it in terms of coverage (the walls are currently a pale yellow so shouldn't be too difficult to cover with white!)?…
