Any washing machine experts on here?
Hi guys, My 2 year old Beko WM6167W is on the blink - it fills up ok, drains ok but doesn't do much else... Immediate thoughts were either heating element or motor... put it on a spin and a rinse cycle (where no water heating takes place) to discount the heating element and it still wouldn't work... therefore I think I…

How many bricks safe to carry in car?
Bit of a strange one but does anyone have any idea of how many bricks i could load into my car. It is a clio. I want to get some for a small gardening project and if i pay for delivery it would nearly double the price so I was thinking of picking them up as it is only a few miles away. Probably going to need about 100-150…

Gates on slant
Hello, I'd like to install metal gates on my drive. The pillars are already there. However the drive is on a slant and I would prefer the gates to open inwards. I have a small dog and don't want him escaping underneath the gates if high on the pillar. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Dog Kennel Plans, anyone woodwork savvy??
Evening all xx I've been looking for a dog kennel for our pampered choc Lab cross Dalmation and am shocked at the prices (no Im not actually lol). Anyway Hubby says it can't be so hard to make one. I'd love to make a lovely one with a veranda (yes I know but like I said she's pampered!), but you are talking about £100 plus…

I want to integrate everything which I can do (as contacted original kitchen suppliers), but not sure what to go for. I have…

Paste the wall paper
I've got some paper for the bedroom - spent ages choosing it and it's 'the one' but it's one of those paste-the-wall papers. I've never been convinced that this is better, and always wonder how people manage with a long length of paper, but has anyone actually used it and pasted the paper instead? I have the feeling I'd be…

Help needed with Hoover WDM120
First, I hope I am in the right place as this forum is unfamiliar territory for me. (I saw it mentioned DIY in the forum heading.) My Hoover WDM120 washer dryer has started gradually taking in water when it is not even on. I've had a scout around the web and think it is likely to be the inlet valve(s) which need replacing.…

How can I get a Trampoline collected?
Hi I've seen a really good trampoline for my kids on ebay, problem is that it's pickup only and 100 miles away, lol! I need a rectangular/oval shaped one for a narrow garden and these are few and hard to find secondhand. The seller has dismantled it, but they won't pack it for a parcel, they say it's too heavy & difficult.…

Builder, joiner or roofer required for dormer window extension?
We're about to buy a house that has a sloped roof to the front of the house. There is enough floor space on the 1st floor below the roof for a room but not enough headroom to stand. We're looking at getting quotes to add an dormer extension to provide the head room to use the space. Pictures are easier to understand.…

Street Signs- the law!
Hi Does anyone know if by law a road has to have a street (name) sign? I moved in to a new house in 2004, the house fronts onto a bicycle path and originally had 3 street signs, all 3 signs have been removed (vandels!) and have not been replaced as the council have not adopted the road from Bellway homes (who own the…

Does Drain Blaster/Doctor work?
I noticed a stagnant water smell in our house the other day and worked out it was to do with the bathroom sink, the water had been draining away very slowly. We took the u-bend? bit off and, sure enough, there was a lot of gunk that we got rid of. I'm keen to give the pipework a 'clean-through', however, it's a sink with…

toolsets
Good morning one and all. I'm about to start building My First Toolset for doing the odd bit of DIY and putting together of bits and bobs around the home, as I've finally moved out of shared, rented, flats. It's obviously one of the most important steps in every man's life, and I've managed to leave it until the very last…

Paint Brushes
Just thought I would pop in here to get a bit of advice from those who will know better! We're in a small 2 bed terraced house and the 2 of us are going to be painting our newly plastered kitchen, lounge, and hall-stairs-landing this week after PVA-ing. We've bought 2 rollers, 1 extension handle, 1 radiator roller. We've…
