How many bricks safe to carry in car?

Bit of a strange one but does anyone have any idea of how many bricks i could load into my car. It is a clio.
I want to get some for a small gardening project and if i pay for delivery it would nearly double the price so I was thinking of picking them up as it is only a few miles away.
Probably going to need about 100-150 bricks.

According to a quick Google, the maximum loading weight of a 1.2l Clio is 490kg, but I would check your handbook as the internet isn't always right. Apparently a red clay brick weighs around 2.7kg, but of course that is very dependent on the type of brick. Based on these figures, you could put 180 bricks into your car without overloading it. I'm not sure that it would be great for the suspension tho, especially if they are all in the boot. 2 trips might be a good idea. And please make sure that the bricks are well secured, you don't want them to come flying at you if you need to do an emergency stop!!!0

490 kg?
might be an idea to take off the weight of the driver first!
180 bricks is ok if wanna use the clio as a wheelbarrow.Get some gorm.0 -
If you are loading it up make sure you spread the weight ie: don't put them all in the boot and take a route that isn't covered in pot holes or speed humps0

400kg is the max payload, ex the driver. that load has to be spread out over the whole car.
ie you cant put the 400 kg just in the boot area.Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks
2 trips sounds like the safe bet. Never even thought that they tell you the max weight for the car. If i put the back seat down then i can spread the weight evenly.
I think the hardest part sounds like finding a route with no speed bumps and pot holes!0 -
id say 2 trips is the minimum.Get some gorm.0

What about the sand and cement?
So probably more than one trip in any case
Why don't you just source another supplier who will offer better or even free delivery?0 -
Must be unlucky your way. My local builders merchants (2 miles away) delivers for a fixed price of £50
