Decorating Query
We've decided to make life a bit easier for the future and instead of wallpaper just have the walls in the hall painted plaster - so that we can maintain them ourselves. They are currently wallpapered. The house is about 20 years old and the walls not in too bad a condition. The decorator came to give us an estimate but I…

What type of home and contents insurance if I have lodgers?
Hi, I own a house that I live in, with 2 other lodgers. What type of buildings and contents insurance should I be looking for? I think that I should be getting landlords insurance seeing as I let out 2 of the rooms. But on the flip side, since I also live in the property then I don't think I'd be eligible for landlord's…

in the bathroom i have a chrome towel radiator... on the top right there is what seems to be where you bleed it from (which i have done) - but where is the TRV? is that on the opposite top corner, as it just looks like a big nut that you open with a spanner? Hi, I need to drill 8 holes in wall (ground floor) to hang a few items, and am I right in thinking that the electrical cables in wall usually run vertically above the light or wall sockets, so staying clear of sockets by at least 6 inches horinontally each side should mean I am ok? Is there something I can buy that will…

Warning Re IKEA 'delivery'

Some radiators not working in new home!
Hi, I moved into my new (built in 1930's) house yesterday, and have found that 3 of the radiators do not work. However, 1 in the main corridor, 1 in the extension above the garage room, and the towel…

First of all, apologies for the long post but all advice will be gratefully received! I live in a Victorian end terraced house which I just cannot get warm! Should I Varnish or Wax or oil American Oak ?
Well the title pretty well says it all. We've just had untreated american oak delivered for a balustrade. I want to have a mat or satin finish but definitely not a glossy. I want to keep the nautural colour. Also, it would be good if it was not a skilled job. Does anyone have any advice/experience/suggestions??
