Warning Re IKEA 'delivery'

HI
This is really just a warning so that hopefully no one gets taken on like we were.
Bought a new flat, ordered an IKEA pax wardrobe, just under £600 then £35 delivery charge. A delivery date was sent to us for Friday 19th November two weeks before. It was a work day, but really needed the wardrobe, so we both booked the day off to receive the delivery and put the thing together. This works out to over £250 in wages for us, but we figured it would be good to get it up and ready and those wardrobes are a two person lift.
The delivery date was confirmed perhaps 5 or 6 times via both sms and email. However, on Thursday 18th November at 8.02pm DHL left us a message to say delivery would not take place. That was it - no explanation, no apology, just that it was cancelled.
We were pretty angry but conveniently their phone line closed at 8pm, so had to wait until the morning to contact them. 1st phone call after 20minutes on hold told us to wait for a call back. It never came. So we rang again in the afternoon, were again kept on hold. However this time we were told that delivery 'failed' because someone forgot to pick our items! As you can imagine at this point, having lost a days wages and been charged delivery of £35, we requested that something be sorted out for us. The woman on the end was pretty rude, totally unhelpful, and basically just said we could only get the right delivery day for us if we waited 3 weeks.
I sent two emails, trying to get some help, with no response. This week I can an sms telling me my delivery is scheduled for Wednesday 24th. We simply cannot take any more time off work to wait for it again so I called to reschedule this morning. Woman told us should be able to get something for Monday or Thursday next week (when we are working from home) and to expect a reply by noon. Well noon came and went, no reply. In the meantime my emails have finally been answered, however there is no apology - just a confirmation that the delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, despite me having cancelled this morning!
We are really really angry and frustrated, but I just want to warn anyone to make sure you get them to schedule on a day you are not working, in case you get stuck with them not showing up like they did with us.

Maybe it's my just local ikea works very differently. You actually go to pick up all your bits into a trolley, and then you take the whole lot to the delivery department. They also will delivery on Saturdays.0

I know your pain..... Booked tomorrow off work about 6 weeks ago when I got the delivery date for my new sofa. Called Ikea yesterday to confirm and was assured the delivery would take place despite the snow.
Just had an email a few moments ago saying it's been rescheduled for 2 weeks time. And the customer services centre is now "closed due to bad weather".
Nice one Ikea....0
