Some radiators not working in new home!

Hi, I moved into my new (built in 1930's) house yesterday, and have found that 3 of the radiators do not work. The boiler seems to be working fine (I bled it when i moved in), and the radiators in the rest of the home are fine too.
However, 1 in the main corridor, 1 in the extension above the garage room, and the towel heater in the newly fitted bathroom, all are stone cold. I have tried bleeding them all, and there is no air in them. The pipes feeding them are also not hot, which leads me to believe that they are not getting hot water?
Do i need to get in the experts , or is there something i can try myself?
Anybody with any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Have you tried turning the TRV (presuming they are fitted) fully on and off a few times as they can stick sometimes.
check that the lockshield valve is not closed on these radiators.
then I would turn off all other radiators and see if this forces water through these ones.
You should ask your solicitor to query whether it was a known problem with the previous owners. As you have just moved in you may be within your rights to get the sellers to fix the problem.0 -
not sure what a TRV is to be honest. what i have done is turned the inlet (i.e. the one on the opposite side of the thermostat) on fully, and i tried moving it left and right a little too just in case it had jammed.
i havent tried turning all the rest off...will try that tonight.
but it wasnt a problem with previous owners, but the heating hasnt been turned on for close to 6months so maybe thats why??0 -
whats a lockshield valve?0

sorry TRV = thermostatic radiator valve. Try turning it on and off a few times - they can and do stick closed. You shoudl be able to take the top off and check whether its operating correctly too.
And just because the previous owners haven't used it, its still their responsibility if it doesn't work. Was the house unoccupied?0 -

the lockshield is the little one, the big one with the settings on is the thermostatic valve.0 -
yes, it was unoccupied. i have called up the previous owner, and he seems to be saying the same things your saying.
the thermostats are all on full heat so, i will try the TRV tonight.
so fiddling with it to open/closed should mean that the pipe feeding into it should get hot as hot water should be flowing into the radiator - is that right? and is it possible that i need to re-bleed it?0 -
which way is open and which way is closed for the TRV??0

anybody?? which way is open/closed on a TRV? i have heard that open is clockwise, is that correct?
also, in the bathroom i have a chrome towel radiator...
on the top right there is what seems to be where you bleed it from (which i have done) - but where is the TRV? is that on the opposite top corner, as it just looks like a big nut that you open with a spanner? (scared of flooding my bathroom!)
there are two thermostats on the bottom, which i have turned up to full.....please help!0 -
Clockwise closes the hole, so = off0

TRV's generally have a numerical scale on them or pictures of ice crystals and such stuff. So the fact you don't know which way to turn it suggests to me you have ordinary manual rad valves. Anti-clockwise to open.banana-man wrote: »anybody?? which way is open/closed on a TRV? i have heard that open is clockwise, is that correct?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
