Hi,
I have a living dining area and I'm about to purchase a dining table and chairs. The thing is that in the dining area there is a radiator on the longest wall. The only real place is for the dining table to be placed there. Any advice or tips to keep my small space looking big and is it okay to have the table pushed up against the radiator?
Thanks

Hi, I've got my dining table against the radiator, its fine, no probs. A couple of other things i would mention, i went for a smaller table that opens out for the odd occasion i need the extra room, usually just Christmas day. I've got six dining chairs, but i have four round the table and the other two double up as bedroom chairs, it might not make much actual difference to the room your table takes up, but four chairs are lighter on the eye than six.

If its just an inexpensive table (ply / chip board etc) basically a laminated one from Ikea then I wouldnt worry about placing it near a radiator. If its a nice expensive hardwood (teak, oak etc) table then I would move it away when you turn the radiators on to prevent the wood loosing its natural moisture and drying out, potentially leading to cracking splitting, twisting etc...
as far as faking a spacious room then you could look at a fold away table as mentioned above. tables are one of those items which are just clunky and hard to place (unless you genuinely have a large room) get the smallest table possible and only as many chairs as you need...what more can i say, tidy away unnecessary clutter....0
