Combi-boiler gas use - excessive?
I have an Alpha CB24/28 combi-boiler installed in 12/02. I live in a 2 bedroomed flat, including myself there are two adults (both working full time) and a child (at school full time). My estimated usage for the year is 24633.88 kWh, which to me seems excessive. The only other gas appliance inthe house is a gas hob. We…

Washing Machine Makes a Scraping Noise When It Spins
My washing machine has started to make a scraping noise when it spins. It is a steady scraping sound, not a clunking noise so I don't think anything has come loose. Anyone know what it could be and how much it might cost to fix? It is a 12 year old Hotpoint First Edition 800 WM51 and I live near Guildford in Surrey. I know…

What goes in to making a house?
I'm curious. I work as a planning officer and so deal with plans every day. Many of these are drawn by the applicant or a CAD technician, no agent or architect is involved. How do they go from getting these plans approved to actually starting to build their house? How do they know what materials are needed, and in what…

Trying to find internal doors
I need to replace two of my internal doors and thought it would be easy just to get two plain doors...then we measured them.
