Hi,
Everyone was sooooo helpful regarding my kitchen thread that I thought I would ask another........................
I am looking for bi-fold/sliding folding doors either in wood or aluminum(or possibly both, basically not plastic!)
Does anyone have these already or could recommend somewhere I might be able to get them, I also need matching windows to be supplied - all going into a new extension!
Any help/advise would be very, very gratefully received

How big will the doors need to be? If thy're not too big, up to 2400mm width then these are really nice:

Jeldwen do windows as well so you'll find something to match. You can see the doors in B&Q - sometimes they do 20% off which makes them pretty competitive, otherwise I'd get them via Jewson.
Ours are much bigger and taller so we went for upvc for cost reasons. We opted for white inside and a light oak finish on the outside. I'd have loved aluminium but the cost was prohibitive. Neighbours have lovely dark grey aluminium and their windows cost £16,000.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

They are big - I need two sets.
One 3200 wide and one 3700 wide (both 2200 high). It's looking like they will be v.expensive! :eek:0 -
Yup, they're big. Our were similar sizes.
If you can bring yourself to go for upvc then these people are fantastic - really cheap, really professional and helpful too. I was worried about buying over the internet so we went to their showroom.

We found our own fitters which worked out cheaper than using them, but the doors would still be relatively cheap with their own fitters. There are pics of ours buried somewhere on my own thread about what people would prefer in a house.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I make windows and doors at work everyday out of allsorts of timber. I suggest you go for plastic unless you want to pay lots of money for timber.......however, from experience which may be a little one sided, go for timber if you can afford it.
Obviously, get a few quotes as times are hard in the trade at the moment and you may be suprised and find someone who's dropped their prices a bit.....although they wont compare to plastic prices0
