Death and Bills
Hi, I hope some of you wise people out there can help. My dad has just died and I am now looking after mum and taking on all the bills. Just before the energy crisis I tied them into a fixed rate combined gas and elec bill which doesn’t expire until march 2023. Problem is this bill was solely in my dads name. It didn’t…

An idea for Ofgem
Ofgem recently made a lot of noise about energy companies abusing direct debits and lots of complaints on here about silly usage estimates and companies trying to increase dd's... surely the answer is to ban direct debit increases when accounts are in credit, with say an automatic £500 fine for companies that do so (£500…

Wholesale prices
Does anyone know why if my energy supplier is green, especially my electricity which is 100% green, is so affected by wholesale energy prices. If electricity is from wind why have these costs gone up? Thank you

£300 help to pensioner household
I have a friend who currently receives the warm home discount ….from what I’ve read it would seem as though it’s only those who are receiving the Winter Fuel Allowance that qualify for the £300 ‘help’…am I correct? Ps I’m not sure why she isn’t getting the WFA anyway as she was born in 1949.

Am I looking at a 7x rise in energy cost since last year?
September 2021, Avro went bust, I went from paying £62 per month, and got the cheapest fix I could find which was with BG Energy at £101 per month for 12 months. A rise of 63% on the previous price I was paying. I've just been checking the current fixed deals with EDF, and it looks like I'm looking at a bill of £244, which…

EON cant be right
Hi, typing this on behalf of my GF. She is at her wits end with EON, she is trying to sort her fathers energy problems out and getting nowhere. He has a smart meter and for some unknown reason, he has to submit gas readings as EON say they are unable to get them. He has been told by Eon that his DD payments are going to…

SSE Hiking Direct debit
I have recently come to the end of my fixed price tariff with SEE, and since March SEE SSE have been increasing my DD which at the end of the fixed price tariff stood at £143.00 per month. Additionally at the end of the fixed price tariff I was £137.72 in credit (nearly 1 month in credit). Now SSE have calculated my…

Measuring power consumption
Apologies if this isn't the correct forum. Without a smart meter I'm trying to work out the cost of consumption such as having my TV on standby. My manual says it's 0.3w and if I use this website for 8460 hrs in a year it tells me it would be £71 https://www.sust-it.net/energy-calculator.php However this site says that…

EDF Existing Customer Offer. Fix Total Service May24v4 - Should I take it over variable?
Hello all, My fixed deal comes to an end June 30th. Really need some help with explaining / what is the best option for me and others with these…

Calculating what the price cap means for my consumption
Is there an easy way to work out what the price cap could mean for my own consumption? The price cap is based on an average consumer - but we're very different to the average house. Tight with gas and electric, but have a large house and an EV - which throws any meaningful comparison to the price cap out the window. Is…

Disability and cost of living.
I am for one pleased with the announcements from rishi especially in relation to disability benefits. Why? Because many a time I can't get help with things because of only being on pip. The warm home discount doesn't allow me to be eligible as you need another form of benefit to qualify or low income. So in pleased they…

How do we address this E7 anomaly?
I wrote recently to Greg Jackson at Octopus… I received an acknowledgement from his office, but nothing since… What can we Economy 7 users do about the unfairness of these new eco car tariffs when the only energy supply we have is electric? Dear Greg Jackson, I heard your interview on Radio 4. I wanted to contact you to…
