Richi Sunac help advice needed
Hi My wife is 64 and has a small work pension - i am 66 with a small pension and now a state pension, our student son lives with us in our Band E property, it seems we would get nothing at the present time from this government to help with energy prices - what is happening please?

If you have an electricity bill you will get £400 in October paid to your energy account and it won't have to be paid back.
And probably more

If you can demonstrate hardship then your local council will have a discretionary fund for £150 for people in Band E properties.Dave_KS said:Hi My wife is 64 and has a small work pension - i am 66 with a small pension and now a state pension, our student son lives with us in our Band E property, it seems we would get nothing at the present time from this government to help with energy prices - what is happening please?
You will receive the £400 payment that every household will get.
Unfortunately you are not technically pensioners as you have both taken early retirement so you will not be eligible for that component, depending on your income levels (and possibly with your willingness to seek employment) you may be eligible for elements under Universal Credit, but that will depend on circumstances.1 -
OP says he now has a state pension, which would qualify him for the one-off £300.MattMattMattUK said:

From the factsheet:
"People will be eligible for this payment if they are over State Pension age (aged 66 or above) between 19 – 25 September 2022."0 -
If two or more State Pensioners live in one household, how is the EXTRA £300 split between the pensioners?I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0

I would assume that is up to the them?Sterlingtimes said:If two or more State Pensioners live in one household, how is the EXTRA £300 split between the pensioners?1 -
Thank you. My real question is how will Rishi apportion the payments between multiple pensioners in one household? Will he say, there are three pensioners in your household so each can have £100?pochase said:

I was assuming that each qualifying pensioner would get the fraction of the £300 ie in a two pensioner household each would get half ie total £250 Winter Fuel payment. Presumably they will go off address records to know how many qualify in each household .Sterlingtimes said:

HOWEVER, if a qualifying pensioner has moved in with some one else without informing the Work and Pensions dept. then they could get the full £300 - I know that happened in the past with an aunt and her brother who were both getting the single person household WFP even after they moved into a house together!

I am assuming it will be split according to the current split

Seems they only cater for single people or pairs here.1 -
