Wrong Unit on Gas Bill - hcf instead of m3
Hi, This is my first post in a long time and I don't really understand energy bills so please be nice! :) We are on a fixed April 2021 tariff on Eon and for months have been wondering why we've been charged so much, they tried to increase our DD to £250 per month from £94 in December and estimate we will use 29,000 kwh per…

Can energy supplier force me to pay higher DD despite drastic drop in energy usage?
Evening all, Just looking for some advice regards my particular energy usage circumstances.... My household electricity usage over the last 6 months has been massive, chiefly due to an elderly relative living with us who had an oil filled rad switched on almost 24/7 in order to keep them warm. As of last week though, they…

Bulb sent a 26 month statement
Bulb has just sent me a 26 month statement saying that they have received "more accurate info about your usage" - credited all my previous monthly statements and charged me based on this new statement. I've gone from £300 in credit to £100 debit Has anyone had this? Wish I'd cut and run now back in November.

EDF Raising D/D By 500% !
My electricity supplier was Utility Point which went bust last year. I was automatically switched to EDF. The first thing they did was increase my D/D by 20% Now I've discovered they are raising it from the current £19 a month to £90 !!! This cannot possibly be correct. A rise of almost 500%. Needless to say, it's…

Old-ish warm air heating - replace it with Aquair or combi boiler plus radiators?
Hi guys we just bought a house which has an old-ish gas run warm air heater. It is quite loud and perhaps not very efficient and we have been offered to replace it either with standard combi boiler plus installing new radiators everywhere, or the new "Aquair and Boiler Package" solution which would retain the warm air…

Smart Meters vs In-Home Display (IHD) - confused by the readings that do not match up
Hi, I'm currently with EDF who recently replaced the gas and electricity meters with 'smart' ones. Today I went out to play with them and see what information they display. The electricity one (SMETS2 Landis+Gyr E470) seems quite good as it displays lots of information including the balance and amount used, but also the…

Estimated Bills
My energy provider has today, already created estimated usages for both electricity and gas. These estimates are higher than the actual meter readings I have just taken. Should I still submit my readings or will the energy company still go ahead and use their own est for my next bill. P.S. They have done so in previous…

Switching on standard variable rates
I am currently with Scottish Power but having ongoing issues with the daily charging and kilowatt recordings on their app. After several communications and escalated complaints they have finally admitted via email that their app does not function properly. It is not fit for purpose. There is no differentiation for day &…

Switching Deals?
Good Evening, I received an email a few days ago from my supplier: "You've been on Octopus Tracker for almost 12 months now. If you'd like to stick with Octopus Tracker for a further 12 months, you don't need to do anything - we'll automatically extend your tariff until May 4th 2022. Alternatively, if you'd like to compare…

Switching off appliances
Hi, I was just wondering if you still use electricity if your appliances are switched on but not in use. For example, kettles, steamers etc... I get that Sky, ovens, microwaves etc would still be using electricity as there are lights on those. I recently heard that your appliances only use electricity if the actual plug is…

Only concierge is allowed to check electric meter
I live in a large apartment complex and don't have access to my electric meter, I need to call up the concierge and ask him to check it for me and then he leaves a note in my mailbox. I have asked if I could go with him and see it so that I can get a photo for my records, but have been told I'm not allowed, and that the…

EDF haven't changed my Direct Debit...
My fixed term ends tonight and so I move to variable tomorrow, at the same time as the new (painful) price cap comes into play. EDF sent me a bill a week or so ago but they haven't increased my direct debit at all. I have family, friends, and have read online that people have received new, higher bills for their…

Bulb Removed Off Peak Tariff
As well as my current SP issue, I have discovered another issue this week now with Bulb. My mum switched to Bulb from SP and when she did was placed on their Economy 7 tariff. In June last year the Off Peak tariff was suddenly removed without notification, and her 2nd meter (storage heaters) has been getting charged at the…

Bill increase is 91% not 54% for most people, especially those who follow MSE
There has been huge publicity, including from Martin Lewis, for the "54% increase in the price cap". For most people however who are on expiring fixed rate deals the year on year increase is more like 91%, or close to doubling. I am surprised I have not seen or heard much about this, or maybe I have not been looking at…
