Using electric water heater
With the changes in price for energy, especially gas, that are coming in April, could it make sense in summer to use the backup immersion heater to heat my water rather than gas?

Deemed Tariff?
Hi, Last year my supplier went bust and I was automatically transferred to EDF. The last correspondence I had from them is October where they increased my bill from £74 to £94 and it tells me I am on the Welcome GNE V1 tariff. Now, when I log into my account it shows my tariff details (with a disclaimer saying they are the…

100% Rise from EDF
I normally pay £80 for the gas and electric use. They want to up it to £160 per month? I thought increases were capped at around 52%? Checking other tariffs the cheapest is £192 + Before I challenge EDF your thoughts and expertise please.

Is over-stating actual gas or electric meter readings against the law - yes or no
It has been suggested on another forum that this is fraud and in the same category as insurance / mortgage fraud but I am struggling to find laws regarding this specific situation. In the T&Cs of the energy supplier there is nothing written about this. Edit : I am on an SVR so have no interest one way or another, I am just…

Fixed tariff ending - no offer of another fixed tariff by supplier
I know there is an energy crisis on, but I've read about other people being contacted by their supplier within a few weeks of their fixed tariff ending and being offered another fixed deal. Of course these deals they're being offered are more expensive than the price cap variable rate, but to be honest I'd rather be on a…

EDF Threat re Smart Meter Installation
Currently on a 2 year "Simply Online" tariff which expires on 31 December 2022. Was quite relaxed about this in the context of current tariff increases etc and prepared to bite the bullet from 1 January 2023. That was until I received an email from EDF yesterday containing the thinly disguised threat that if I fail to…

Free insulation
Hi all are there any schemes that do free loft insulation I know they offer boilers and cavity wall but it’s proving difficult to find a loft one. We have foil type insulation sheets across the roof but there looks to be nothing behind it in terms of any other insulation, so I’m guessing that’s not great. Thanks all

Cheap energy club auto switch
I joined MSE’s cheap energy club a couple of years ago. My Dad called earlier to say I shouldn’t switch to a new fixed rate and should remain on a variable energy rate and just top up any additional costs. Do I need to cancel MSE cheap energy auto switch to a new tariff when my current tariff ends in May in order to keep…

Higher electricty charge than new price cap ???
My provider is EDF and they have just provided me with a choice of fixed deals or standard variable. The standard variable gas prices are as per the new cap from 1 April i.e. 27.22 standing charge and 7.365 unit rate. The standard variable electricity prices quoted are more than the price cap. They are quoting an…

Igloo Energy Administrator BSB chasing 2 yr old final bill I thought I'd paid
I've just received a letter from BSB Ltd, apparently a debt recovery agency working for the administrators of Igloo Energy asking me to pay an outstanding balance of £157. When I moved house in March 2020 the property was being supplied by Igloo and I quickly changed to another supplier which switched on 28 Apr 2020. Igloo…
