Higher electricty charge than new price cap ???
My provider is EDF and they have just provided me with a choice of fixed deals or standard variable. The standard variable gas prices are as per the new cap from 1 April i.e. 27.22 standing charge and 7.365 unit rate. The standard variable electricity prices quoted are more than the price cap. They are quoting an electricity standing charge of 47.58 (cap = 45.34) and an electricity unit rate of 29.58 (cap = 28.34). I would be really grateful if someone could explain why that is the case ... I've been Googling and can't find the answer anywhere. Huge thanks

I suspect the difference you're seeing is because the cap values vary with the region of the UK someone lives in.0

The rates you've been quoted are the same as the price cap for North Wales/Mersey, so if you are in that region that's correct0

Yes thats the region --- thank you ... it was bugging me and I couldn't find the answer, Thanks so much0

Please could someone let me know where to find the price cap rates for Suffolk? I haven't been able to find it by googling. I am with British Gas and the current SVR are roughly 50% more than the average price cap rates. It's not what you know, but who you know.0

Note that the published BG rates are likely to be those w.e.f. 1 April so they will be higher than the existing cap.1
