It's time to renew - EON
Hi all, Bad timing... I have just received an email from EON suggesting that my fixed tariff is coming to an end next month. I am not quite sure what to do to be honest, so looking for some advise from this forum on my best option here. Our current tariff is the Fix Online Exclusive v52 (for dual energy). EON are…

Stunned at British Gas new fixed tariff or am I being naive?
So I’m on a fixed British Gas tariff until Feb 2022. I’m paying £132 per month for both gas and electric. If I jump to a new fixed tariff that locks in until December 2023, the price jumps to £218 per month. That’s an increase of over £1000 per year. Surely it’s better for me to hang on and see where things are early next…

Zebra power help
Hi all, Prob a good few of these but is there anything you can do with the current gas rise. Our tarif ends at the end of Oct and we seem to be trapped and are being told our bill will be increasing from £170 to £300 a month. You obvs can’t switch at the moment and even if you can it’s even more. We had twins last year and…

Economy 7
Trying to work out how to put my immersion water heater onto a timer, so I can just set it for a couple of hours during off peak time, and not be on ALL NIGHT. I only need water warm for dishes really, as shower is independent---- The cheap hours here for Octopus are 00.30----07.30( Scotland) but if I switch it on manually…

No Meter Reading
Hi all, My energy supplier went bust two weeks ago today. Been transferred to EDF on what I imagine will be an extortionate tariff. I didn’t see the email so didn’t take a reading until today. My last reading previous to that was in April. What will they do? Will they charge me the new rate since April? Or will they work…

Heating my hot water via a new Valiant Aerotherm plus Air to water system
Hi Y’all! I have recently had a new central heating system put in with a new Valiant Aerotherm Plus air to water system. I also switched to the Octopus Go tariff which drops to 5p per Kw from 00:30 until around 5am so this is currently when my hot water is programmed to switch on. Am I better to also have the tank charging…

Solar Panels - increasing price of energy make them more worthwhile?
We are lucky enough to live in an old house in the Scottish countryside (5bed, 3 reception) and as with many rural properties we aren't on the gas network. The people before us installed a GSHP for the heating and hot water, but they didn't install much in the way of insulation (out house is mostly pre 1900) so we have…

Can Octopus do that?
I recently had an air source heat pump fitted and wanted to change my tariff. On Tuesday I checked the Octopus website for their options (I'm with them already) the cut and pasted the chosen option into an email to them immediately stating I wanted to go onto that tariff. On Wednesday an email came back saying they weren't…

Usage increase after switching providers
In March I switched elec provider from Eon to SSE as they quoted a much lower monthly payment. I have now found out that the amount quoted hasn’t been covering anywhere near my bill. So I’ve looked into why this has happened & according to my bill they are stating that in 3 months I’ve used more kWh than I did for the…

Cheap Energy Club - pausing their alert service.
Why? I've just seen the email from the Cheap Energy Club, saying they are pausing the alert service as per Martin's request. I know the email was sent 2 days ago, but it ended up in my spam folder - haha! Anyway, the question is: Why? According to the email, it says: "You chose for us to tell you via email when there are…

Just moved to a new house, British Gas supplying energy - do I switch or stay for now?
Hi all, newbie here. I've tried searching for this question but couldn't find something directly relevant. Basically, as per the title, I've just moved into a new home supplied by British Gas. They have set me up with a new Standard Variable account and I don't know whether to switch now to a cheap supplier or stick with…

Contact Octopus
I have been trying to email octopus. Their website now states they were replying within 46 hours on 30th September. On 30th September it said 10 hours. However 7 DAYS on still no reply to our email. How can they get away with showing typical reply times that are so far off?

Advise on choosing a company/tariff (Do I risk variable, or pay the price on a fixed rate)
Hi, I'm due to come out of my dual fixed rate with So energy next month. The offer they now have for a 2 year deal is over twice as much as what I had been paying. That works out at £3,240 more over the 2 years. They also have a 1 year deal which is obviously more over the year than the 2 year deal and works out £2,148 more…

Symbio Problems
Have been with Symbio for nearly three years and my monthly usage has never exceeded 280 Kwts yet they constantly estimated my monthly usage as 450 ever since they fitted smart meter, which they couldn't read and refused to accept my meter readings because they were lower than previous readings. Eventually they billed me…

EON hiking my direct debit
Is it me or is EON forcing me to take higher direct debit charges. It is trying to put up my direct debit by over £100 per month. I spent an hour to get through to their service department and explained I did not want it put up, I’ll cover the extra cost at end of contract. This has been ignored. Their app will not allow…

Utility Point to EDF - still heard nothing
Even though EDF took over my gas and electricity supply on 18th September I've still heard nothing from them to confirm a new account or tarrif. I presume I will be switched to their Standard Variable Rate, backdated to 18th Sept, but it would be nice to have this all confirmed. Have any former UP customers on here had…
