Changing supplier after moving house
Hi I moved house last week and have inherited British Gas at the new property. Their prices are very high and they want to lock me into a contract with a penalty of £30 each for gas and electricity if I change supplier. Can I just change to another supplier straight away without using British Gas, by using Uswitch?

Issues with switching due to E7 meter
Currently on Economy 7 tariff with a Day / Night Meter. Wanting to switch both Gas & Elec and move to away from the E7 tariff to a normal one as have no need for E7. However, the cheaper providers I checked with are unable to deal with the 2 readings from day/night Elec meter and say I have to switch with E7 (which I don’t…

Switching before rate hikes?
Hi, I'm currently with 'Avro: Simple and Glory' since last summer. I crunched my numbers into 3 comparison providers. 2 of the providers told me I could switch to a cheaper provider 'Simplicity Energy' (never heard of them). Would it be smart to switch before my contract ends? I don't think Avro charge for exiting early.…

Bulb energy quote high
Hi, I used a referral link to get a quote from Bulb. It was for Electricity only. I used 1693kwh last year so entered 1700kwh. The quote was for £60 per month and when I used "refine quote" it said "You're currently paying around £978 a year. After switching to Bulb, you'll be paying nearer £724" which is way out. Has…

Extra energy - a different query, help needed
Hi everyone, I know there is another active thread on extra energy, but mine is a bit different. I have received a 1st, 2nd payment reminders and now a final payment letter threatening court action, saying we owe £500. However here is the snag: I signed up to extraenergy 5 years ago in 2014, was with them no longer than a…

The trouble with third party verification
As most people now know, the initial reading that you give to a new supplier goes thru a verification process before being supplied to the old (losing) Utility Co. In this process the reading may be altered BUT BOTH parties should use the same reading. However, recently on two separate occasions, I have had problems…

British Gas Hidden Charges
Don't move to a new tariff before the old one ends, because you'll be put onto the new tariff on the day that you ask for the move, and you'll be charged the new tariff rate before the old one ends. Read my letter to BG below: "On or around 5 March 2019, I telephoned British Gas (BG) to arrange to transfer to a new…

Hi I was one one of those hoovered up by Together energy in December last year. At the end of January I moved to Avro from together and as requested sent Avro my readings when requested. Avro informed me I officially moved on 12th Feb. Now I was around £250 in credit when I was moved to Together and they took £99 in Jan…

Entroga Direct Debit Payments
Has anyone had problems with Enstroga payment system. I increased my direct debit in January 2019 and asked the customer service advisor if it was enough, who said let it run and see. I monitor the monthly meter reading and charges and could see that it was not enough, but by the end of contract would have closed the gap.…

OneSelect and Together Hell Advice
Lots of background. I inherited a house last year. Electricity was with EDF. They were taking the mickey with estimated readings following the house becoming empty (ie, not using the ASHP to heat the place) Moved over to OneSelect and eventually agreed my final reading and account closed. OneSelect use the "old" meter…

Faulty meter?
Until July 2018 we (being 2 adults and 2 kids in a 4 bed semi) were using between 9 and 11 units of electric a day. I indulged in a hot tub in the July and consumption went up to 14 to 18 units a day. However in October it spiked to 40 odd units a day. Some days it recorded 64 units/ 77/ 32/ 24units...one day it said we…

Problems switching to the new energy upstarts
Hi just sharing my recent (last year or so) experience and canvassing to see if it's happened to others... To cut a long story short, I joined one of the new small energy companies about a year ago. MSE email saying could save more by switching later last year so off I go and yes, another switch to another new small…

High energy bills with Outfox The Market
Hi My friend helped me switch from a company called Our Power to Outfox The Market on 17th November. My friend forgot to pass on the meter readings so the bills up until now were estimated. It turns out I had underpaid by £464. Fair enough but I had been paying around £150 by direct debit each month. When I total it up…

Uswitch before moving in
We're moving into a new flat on the 16th of this month, it's currently supplied by energy supplier A. We've just now put through a switch to energy supplier B using USwitch, which should therefore complete on the 22nd of this month (two week cooling off period plus three working days). Am I right in thinking that then all…

Eon
Hi all, Any help greatly appreciated. We have moved to a new build site and it is controlled by EON. We are currently paying £30 a month just for the rental of the line... that’s £1 a day! We hardly use any heating so it’s having a HUGE impact on the monthly costs. They’ve also just put it up so it’s now going to be more…
