Bit of background.

The estate where I live has been converted from bulk Calor to natural gas, with the default supplier being Scottish Power, and we have freedom to switch immediately we went live with natural gas.

This was a scheme through Affordable Warmth Solutions, Cadent and Happy Energy.

In December AWS sent me my MPRN. I was connected to natural gas on 5th February and have since received a bill from that date for the readings I supplied from 5th February to the middle of March which I have paid.

I have been trying to switch for the last two weeks. Compare the Market has rejected my application because (they say) there is a problem with my MPR Number. USwitch say I'm not on the National Grid. The National Grid has a different number for my address. Scottish Power say it's correct and they have registered it with The National Grid.

This has been going on now for over a fortnight and I have lost count of the number of phone calls I've made.

Happy Energy are trying to find out why I am in this position but so far I have no idea what to do next. SP has told Happy Energy that as far as they are concerned everything has been set up correctly. Somebody, somewhere has made an error, but I've no idea who.

So ........ any ideas please?

I should add that other people have been able switch to other suppliers with no problems.

You can check who is registered as your main gas supplier at your supply address (if anyone) by going to the following site

www . findmysupplier . energy (remove the spaces)

If it shows yoiu are registered as supplied by Scottish Power, then there should not be an issue.
We were never asked our MPRN when we switched our supplier a couple of months back
