Bulb energy quote high
Options
Hi,
I used a referral link to get a quote from Bulb. It was for Electricity only.
I used 1693kwh last year so entered 1700kwh. The quote was for £60 per month and when I used "refine quote" it said "You're currently paying around £978 a year. After switching to Bulb, you'll be paying nearer £724" which is way out.
Has anyone else had problems and do they just adjust the £60 per month quoted once you have sent a few reading?
Thanks for any replies

What's the problem? Is the £978 correct (to check you will need your readings of 12 months ago and the tariff rates, standing charge plus VAT
£724 is only an estimate - use more pay more, use less pay less.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I expect to tell my energy co my consumption and them to work out what I should pay based on the info I give them unless I don't bother and let them guess, which doesn't seem to be the case in this instance
I would have thought that if the OP input 1700kwh then the "estimate" should have done the simple sum of multiplying 1700 x tariff and got a fairly accurate cost.
Even if you decided that the tariff was 20p/kwh and the s/c was £100 a year you'd only get a dd amount of around £36 a month.
£60 a month is nowhere close, a dd of £30 is much nearer the mark for 1700khw/p/aNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I just did a quote on Bulb's site - using 1700kWh for region 11 and got quoted £36 a month.
However using the figures below from their tariff page, the value should have been £25 a month or £300.08 a year.Single rate meter
Electricity
Tariff name
Vari-Fair Electricity
Tariff type
Variable
Payment method
Direct debit
Unit rate
13.262p per kWh
Standing charge
20.44p per day (£74.62 per year)
Assumed annual cost
£426.37 per year0 -

"energyhelpline" quote for Bulb Vari-Fair Electricity is £302 (<£26 per month) so Bulbs £60 per month estimate, using "refine quote" and my exact annual usage is over twice what I will using.
Looks more like a quote for Dual fuels. I was just wondering if others have switched to them Electricity only and had their D/Debit halved, or much reduced, once they have sent one or two readings?0 -

Perhaps there is a problem with their estimates for my postcode area.
Might give them a ring, thanks for the replies.0 -
All OK now, seems to be giving correct quote when I refine it.
Must have been fixed at their end.0 -
Yep they have done something as now it is showing £25 for me too.
I just used the results page URL from before so I didn't enter any information this time around and it now shows the correct result.0 -
