Scottish Power
My current energy deal with Eon is due to come to an end in September. I have done a market comparison and the cheapest deal is with Scottish Power. I have been very impressed with Eon's customer service and wondered what Scottish Power are like in comparison and if people would recommend this company?

Alternative energy saving light bulbs - warmer glow?
Hi, In a bid to save energy we are considering switching to energy saving bulbs throughout the home. My problem is that I've always hated that harsh, artificial light they give off (my Husband laughs at me as I can usually tell instantly when I walk in a room if its lit by energy bulbs I just think it feels cold and…

Suppliers wanting payment in advance.
Hi, Does anyone know which suppliers take direct debits in advance? Looking to switch, but I do know some of the cheaper suppliers take money on the day of switchover, so would like to avoid. I don't think comparison sites mention this next to supplier names or tariff details, so am a bit unsure. Cheers

Gas and elec bill
Just moved properties from a rented home to our first house ☺️ Final meter reads have left us with an outstanding balance of £265 for the gas and elec. I'm currently on maternity leave with limited 'free' money beyond the budgeted bills as hubby is self employed so money is not always steady - we have saved to make up my…

Switching time/EON MSE Collective deal?
Hi there I have read the other posts re:MSE EON collective switch coming to an end and no 'new' MSE deals on the horizon. So how long can we wait if we want to DIY? How long does the process take as I'm not sure we can wait for MSE much longer? Thanks.

Being Charged incorrectly.
I moved into a house at the start of this year and I have never received a bill for my gas & electric in this time, yet I have been submitting meter readings. I pay each month via direct debit and decided to find out why I haven't received a bill yet. It turns out I have a prepayment meter yet NPower have allowed me to pay…

Advice needed on heating system
Morning all, first post of a long-time lurker. I currently live in a flatshare with shared ownership and my flatmate has the option to buy my share out so we're on the lookout for a new place at the moment with my girlfriend. There is a flat that came up recently, already have a viewing booked for early September. It's a…

Changed supplier; old supplier still charging me
I've recently moved to GB Energy electric, for a better price. My old supplier made a transfer into my bank account, which I took to be them paying over what they owed me, and sent me a 'sorry you're leaving' letter. I gave the new supplier my opening meter reading and they've started billing me. I've just noticed that…

Help. Being Charged for Gas, but no gas Meter
Hi, I moved in to my apartments late last year. Since then I have set up my electricity with a provider and I have no problem with that. However, when I came to this new apartment I knew there was no gas there as was told electric only as it's had extensive refurbishment. However, I keep getting billed by Utilitia for over…

Is there likely to be another MSE (gas and electricity) collective tariff deal soon as my September 15 deal runs out soon?

SSE Shenanigans - Disingenuous or What?
Look on any decent comparison website, such as Energy Helpline, at the moment and you’ll likely be struck by a prominent new dual-fuel offering with SSE called “SSE 1 Year Fixed v8”. (NB. That “v8” bit is most important. As I’m about to explain...) For many, it will be an appealing tariff and it’s not a collective fix; you…

water meter or not?
Hi, We don't currently have a water meter and I can't help but feel we could save a few ££ if we did. We live in a 4 bed detached and I do wash the cars about every 2 weeks, other than that just the normal washing / cooking / toilet use of water. Our bill is £80 per month, what sort of figure do any of you good people pay…

Disputing Npower final statement
The short version is Npower have sent us an incorrect electricity bill - both in terms of the dates it covers and the usage (estimated readings). I'm looking for any tips to dispute this so we end up paying the correct amount. We moved in to our rented apartment in late May 2015. The previous tenant left in January 2015…

End of MSE Collective 2015
My contract finishes on Sept 15th with Eon via MSE Collective 2015 and wonder if MSE are going to have another scheme. GB Energy looks the best bet otherwise, but had hoped to stay with Eon to save any bother, but I look to save about £300 with GB Are GB ok? (Newby to this hope this makes sense!)

Moving Home and Changing "default" Supplier?
I'm moving house from rented to owning. I currently have Company A supplying gas and electric. Company B supplies new house. I'd like to be supplied by Company A. When I move in, will Company A just take over and go from there? Obviously I'll supply them with move-in meter readings. Do I have to tell Company B that they're…

Switching with 2 supply numbers?
Many Many years ago I tried to switch from scottish power to E-on and the switch failed as E-on could not recognise that I had 2 meter supply numbers. I am in an all electric property with storage heaters. Frustrated with lack of information from scottish power I am now looking to see if I can switch again and looking for…

Solar PV Plus
Hello Has anyone heard of this? Up until this week I had not, but then received two unsolicited phone calls about it yesterday. Both were from dubious-sounding companies, which I'd also never heard of, but that could just be me. It was the hard-sales pitch which made me suspicious. Are these genuine systems? Both callers…
