Switching with 2 supply numbers?

Many Many years ago I tried to switch from scottish power to E-on and the switch failed as E-on could not recognise that I had 2 meter supply numbers.

I am in an all electric property with storage heaters. Frustrated with lack of information from scottish power I am now looking to see if I can switch again and looking for help.

I have one meter number but 2 supply numbers and my tarriff is comfort plus white meter with day, heat and night rates.

Those are the supply numbers. Is there anyone else with this issue?

Many Thanks xx

Do you disclose this when you attempt to switch?

Presumably you are not using a comparison site anyway.

As I have often posted on this site, do not attempt to switch supplier when you are on such a legacy tariff - attempts to do so invariably end in tears.

No I didnt as i didnt realise when i tried to switch that this was the case. The process flagged this up.

Are there any companies that I could switch too do you know?

Most of the big 6 will supply a 2 MPAN set up but you will need to phone each of them and ask to speak to their complex metering teams, the normal front line staff usually do not have a clue. Not all of them will supply these to your area or meter timings, which are controlled by SP, though. It may be worth considering changing your wiring set up to normal E7, you will have to do the sums.

The 1st MPAN is a 8.5hr white meter that has 2 registers.
The 2nd MPAN is a 8.5hr whiter meter heating that has 1 register.
This is going to leave you with very little choice in terms of supplier as this is typically a legacy metering setup that few offer. Depending on you heating setup one option could be to change to E7 metering but that looses you 1.5hrs of heating so really depends where you are in Scotland and how well insulated the property is.

From the sounds of it, and I'm not an energy expert, it seems that you have related meters? This can be quickly checked if you can find someone who has ECOES access, and then you'll need to find a supplier that can support these types of meter setups. This will tend to be the Big Six, but I've know customers with related meters to have seriously trouble with Scottish Power, so I'd recommend you look elsewhere. It may be that your on a SP TwinHeat plan, which may be only that Scottish Power can support.

By having this type of meter setup, it will then throw out the opportunity to use a number of independent, smaller, low-cost set-up suppliers. You might be able to get your meters swapped by Scottish Power, for a small fee.

From my understanding, E.ON (and I know you've tried to use them) or perhaps EDF will be the best bet, E.ON have an amazing back-office support function, so perhaps the E.ON representative may be able to assist you.

    Hope this helps somewhat.
